To not go to docs with my 13yr old ds?

I'm more than happy to but it's right on toddlers tea time. So my Father has said he can take him. And wait in waiting room.

Its an urgent apt so all they can offer but he came home from school and said his privates were sore and swollen.

He said he's not fussed who takes him but wondering if he's be embarrassed about them looking and asking the questions?

Or take snacks and do dd a later tea?

Definitely go with him

TheReluctantCountess · 18/11/2019 16:03

Go with him for goodness sake! Can you father do food for dd?

Crunchymum · 18/11/2019 16:03

Blimey, where do you live that you can get an appointment this time of day???

WaddIelikeapenguin · 18/11/2019 16:03

Can your father stay/eat with toddler so you can go?

knowsmorethansnow · 18/11/2019 16:03

Go with him, slightly later tea for your daughter won't hurt or leave her with your dad.

msmith501 · 18/11/2019 16:04

I would go with him, have a few mins with the doc and then (if asked by DC) pop back to waiting room to give child privacy... it's an awkward age.

MyEnormousTurnip · 18/11/2019 16:04

Definitely go with him.

runoutofideasnow · 18/11/2019 16:04

I'd ask your dad to stay with dd while she has tea then take him.

InDubiousBattle · 18/11/2019 16:04

Take snacks and the toddler or leave the toddler with your dad - definitely go with your 13 year old.

AloeVeraLynn · 18/11/2019 16:04

Wtf surely your dad watches toddlers, you go to appointment?
Poor kid.

ipswichwitch · 18/11/2019 16:05

I’d take DS andI would either leave DD with your dad for him to feed her, or take Dd along with snacks to keep her happy til the later tea

OnTheFenceWithMostViews · 18/11/2019 16:06

That's my thinking. I'll go but take snacks.

Yes very lucky as only just rang and there was a cancellation. However normally they have a few really late ones for emergencies too but have to tell receptionist the issue. At first she said 6.45 then said oh no I have an hour earlier

My old. Surgery was awful hence the change in surgeries.

Go with him, he might need to be seen by the hospital as torsion is a medical emergency.

weirdsmell · 18/11/2019 16:08

Seriously Hmm

Go with him. I can't believe you would prioritise your toddlers tea time Confused

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 18/11/2019 16:10

You really need to ask? Your 13 year olds health vs toddlers tea time?

Also, I don't think they would be allowed to look at your son's testicles without an adult present Hmm

OnTheFenceWithMostViews · 18/11/2019 16:10

My dad lives too far away to have time to get her sorted and drop her off and get bk for the apt and then the reverse trip. But he'd of driven to collect ds and return him.

But its sorted now. Snacks for dd and if dh finishes early he'll come get her off me.

Ds is saying he wants to go in alone anyway but if. Prefer to be in the waiting room at least

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 18/11/2019 16:11

Of course you should go Confused

Apart from the fact your son's appointment is more important than having tea on the table at a rigid time, the adult may need to have parental responsibility depending on what the problem/treatment turns out to be.

OnTheFenceWithMostViews · 18/11/2019 16:12

Should of said I don't think it's a torsion. He's had it before it's an infection I think.. He says it feels the same..
I may actually go in first and say I need answers as to why it keeps happening

OP posts:
EleanorReally · 18/11/2019 16:12

you dont have to look while he is examined, but if he doesnt want you there that is ok, stay in waiting room

CottonSock · 18/11/2019 16:13

I hope he is ok. I was sent from gp to hospital with my dd recently so now always take supplies, snacks, phone charger and iPad.

WorraLiberty · 18/11/2019 16:14

Whenever my DS has had a personal examination, they just do it behind the curtain.

weirdsmell · 18/11/2019 16:16

Don't be so ridiculous. Just ask when you are in if there is anything that may be causing it. But at least let your DS be seen first Confused

halcyondays · 18/11/2019 16:17

I don’t think you’ll be able to stay in the waiting room, the doctor will want you to be there while he’s being examined

weirdsmell · 18/11/2019 16:19

Yes I meant be seen first as in before soap asks questions, not before OP goes in.

OnTheFenceWithMostViews · 18/11/2019 16:19

Yeah I know behind the curtain.
He's just had a right moan as he didn't want me to take him.. So I've said his grandad can't make it now. He said he'd sooner go on In his own.. I said it's not. Possible and I'll wait outside.. But I do want to speak to gp at some point when we're there and up to him whether he wants to be in the room or not.

And it wasn't about a rigid tea time.. I just got all thrown out by times. By father offered and it made me sort of think.

Dd often has tea later.. Just makes her mega grumpy and in the middle of a sleep. Regression spell I'd been trying to get back into more of a routine.. But she'll love the snacks even though she'll eat less tea but it's not going to hurt her.
