After 23 years being together, I've just realised that DH puts sugar on his cereals BEFORE adding the milk. What sort of savagery is this?!

WillLokireturn · 17/11/2019 08:50

Yum. Me too, on whetabix. Makes it melt a bit into the bisk.

funmummy48 · 17/11/2019 08:53

That's ridiculous. Surely the milk washes the sugar off into the bottom of the bowl! Yes, ltb!

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 17/11/2019 08:55

Erm. Then you end up with lovely sweet cornflake flavoured milk at the end. It's the best way😁

TwatCat · 17/11/2019 08:55

@WillLokireturn you're a savage too! Do you want him?

OP posts:
TwatCat · 17/11/2019 08:58

@funmummy48 I know right!? When I asked why he did it that way it was as if I was in the wrong, and he said that I'M the weird one!!! Hmm

OP posts:
TwatCat · 17/11/2019 08:59

@SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated nobody wants cornflake tasting milk!!! Milk is MILK!! You want milk tasting milk!!

OP posts:
Monkerina · 17/11/2019 09:02

That's nothing. Mine puts the milk in with the teabag, BEFORE the water Shock he also does it with instant coffee. I nearly LTB the first time but have just never let him make a cup of tea or coffee since...

Hmm maybe that was his aim all along??

MarthasGinYard · 17/11/2019 09:04

I'd leave you for saying 'cereals'

'Lighthearted'

jomaIone · 17/11/2019 09:06

YABU for calling it 'cereals'. It's just cereal. Gives me the rage, like when some has their 'periods'... It's PERIOD.

Anyway...

It's actually right to put milk in with the instant coffee first as the boiling water can burn the coffee making it taste bitter!

jomaIone · 17/11/2019 09:07

Ha cross post with @MarthasGinYard

WillLokireturn · 17/11/2019 10:17

@WillLokireturn you're a savage too! Do you want him?
Heehee.... Well us cereal -savages have a bit in common... Is he really such a food philistine as me though...? As.....
I sometimes put milk in before teabag (my DD's teenage friend told me off about that), I can't tell the difference.
I cook sausages & bacon in the oven for a full English fry up so it's more an 'oven up'
And .... Rule in my house, Ketchup does not belong in the fridge.

TwatCat · 17/11/2019 18:07

@MarthasGinYard
@jomaIone
In my defence, I was in too much of an outraged shock at the sugar savagery to realise I'd said cereals. 🙈

@Monkerina
@WillLokireturn
Tea should have hot water first before milk, coffee should have milk first to stop the coffee from burning. And I don't let DH make me a cup of tea as he makes it like gnat's piss which I now suspect is because he puts milk in with the teabag first, but I'm too scared to check as I'll run out of room on the divorce papers.

Ketchup goes in the fridge!!!

OP posts:
MarthasGinYard · 17/11/2019 18:52

I suspect you are like my friend who goes to the 'Cinemas' to see a film Grin

Areyoufree · 17/11/2019 18:57

My husband says "cereals". It's one of his least endearing traits.

But, I thought it was normal to put the sugar on first? That way, you get a kind of sugary, milky crust! Especially on Weetabix. Although, obviously no-one actually eats sugar any more. That is sooo eighties.

Ohyesiam · 17/11/2019 18:59

I’m divorcing you both for having sugar on something that’s already too sweet.

MrsTumbletap · 17/11/2019 19:13

Definitely milk first on cereal then sugar. Especially weetabix, because the biscuits go all soft and lovely and the sugar stays a bit crunchy.

Definitely LTB

TwatCat · 17/11/2019 21:02

@MarthasGinYard I go to the pictures. I suppose you go to the picture?

OP posts:
TwatCat · 17/11/2019 21:03

@Areyoufree I love a bit of sugar!

@MrsTumbletap thank you! Someone who understands!!

OP posts:
MitziK · 17/11/2019 21:19

You're both heathens.

There is no need for sugar on any cereals.

Proper porridge gets a pass for proper maple or golden syrup if you're not having seasalt.

PurpleGoose · 17/11/2019 22:02

I can't speak to milk and sugar on cereal, because ewww I don't have sugar on cereal. However, with milk and tea, milk should go into the teacup first so that the boiling water doesn't crack the fine bone china. If you're a heathen not using a china teacup, then I don't suppose the milk/ water order matters as much. 😀

Oldfail · 17/11/2019 22:19

Dh doesn't like that I dip cake and toast into my tea (not at the same time)

Depends what cereal sometimes sugar before like with weetabix or after like ready break once it's been nuked for a minute... add sugar nuke again for 30 seconds... lovely

OwlinaTree · 17/11/2019 22:23

It's cereals in our house as the kids and me always put at least two different types in the bowl together. DH doesn't understand this behaviour.

Animum2 · 17/11/2019 22:28

I mix cereals as well, usually bran flakes and granola and throw in a few sultanas as well, dh just looks bemused when I do this

MajesticWhine · 17/11/2019 23:37

I am a mixer too. Usually three different ones. I would leave all of you for putting sugar on. Only porridge needs sugar and then it must be brown.

Time40 · 18/11/2019 00:06

YABU for calling it 'cereals'. It's just cereal

Ah, but the OP is talking about multiple instances of breakfast-related alleged abuse, so a plural makes more sense.
