Did anyone see the article recently where it was proposed that some Shakespeare plays should be rewritten in text speak as it would appeal more to young people today? ie 2b or not 2b etc etc [yawn, chav emoticon]

MerlinsBeard · 19/08/2007 19:33

LittleBellatrixLeBoot · 19/08/2007 19:43

Yes you are

Txtspk is the Philistines at the gate.

marthamoo · 19/08/2007 19:43

I don't like it because it's hard to read. If I click on a long post which is entirely in text speak I click straight off it again. I tend to do that if it doesn't have any punctuation and is really densely written with no paragraphs/spacing too. It's just too much effort to decipher it.

Hulababy · 19/08/2007 19:45

Hate text speak. I simply not bother reading most, if not all, posts that are done in text speak. Makes it too hard to read quickly and I just can't be bothered.

emj23 · 19/08/2007 19:48

I don't use it in texts or anywhere else. Since phones have had predictive text there's no need, as it doesn't save any time and is actually more complicated to switch between letters and numbers and all that.

And when people use it on message boards it just makes them look a bit of a tw@.

Carmenere · 19/08/2007 19:48

You can use text-speak on here if you want but the truth is that 75 per cent of the people reading your posts will JUDGE you as a bit dim.

Dabbles · 19/08/2007 19:50

I dont, as a rule use txt speak, but out of habit I do abbreviate 'you' to 'u' and 'people' to people' adn thats abotu it! and am just sick of being pulled up for it!!

'When in Rome' and all that.
Well, we Romans do not like/tend to use textspeak. If you do, even just a tincy-wincy bit, you will be pulled up for it. Other sites are less judgemental. But not so much fun.
So type your posts in full (typos are allowed though) and quit moaning. Or defect.

Oh and psml at your abbrevation of 'people' to 'people'!

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 19/08/2007 19:54

Get used to it, 90% of people on here hate loathe and detest it.

ju · 19/08/2007 19:56

Oh dear Dabbles, must we spell it out to you? And no, it's not pretty legible either

stoppinattwo · 19/08/2007 19:58

but itsnt it double standards to have mn abbreviations but not any other??

MyTwopenceworth · 19/08/2007 20:00

Acronyms are different. [stubborn]

Nemo2007 · 19/08/2007 20:01

Dabbles why are you arsed???
