Ordered it on Friday night, ended up having to go away and due back tonight. It will still be ok tonight won’t it? I don’t want to go food shopping. Aibu to eat old Chinese?!

I’d eat eat. Just make sure it’s thoroughly heated through first.

mynewusernamenow · 03/11/2019 09:03

My Friday night Chinese lasts till Monday, but I don't have rice.

I live alone and order enough for free delivery so it's 4 evening meals for me

BeanBag7 · 03/11/2019 09:04

Assuming it was properly refrigerated on friday I would definitely eat it tonight.

bridgetreilly · 03/11/2019 09:07

2 days is my limit, so you should be okay.

beelzeboob · 03/11/2019 09:10

It’s not old it’s still fine to eat!

Don’t reheat rice though

userxx · 03/11/2019 09:11

I always reheat rice, never had a problem, just make sure it's piping hot.

Acciocats · 03/11/2019 09:31

Guidelines for rice are to keep it no longer than 24 hours and then reheated to very hot right through.
So I wouldn’t be reheating rice you had delivered on Friday but other stuff should be ok

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 03/11/2019 09:34

Monday is my limit for takeaway from Friday, including rice. I’ve never had any problems.

Well my day has improved Thankyou!

I read your thread title and thought it was in poor taste after recent events with the 39 people who died in a refrigerated lorry. Could you perhaps get it edited to add the word 'food'?

Hiphopopotamus · 03/11/2019 09:41

Oh for goodness sake 🙄 It’s obviously about food. And everyone calls Chinese food ‘Chinese’. Save your outrage for actual problems

MonstranceClock · 03/11/2019 09:41

No Confused

GettingABitDesperateNow · 03/11/2019 09:42

I would never reheat fried rice. It's already been cooked and cooled and reheated

rainbowconfetti · 03/11/2019 09:43

Me thinks perhaps the problem is more you then the thread title.

What an absolutely bizarre thing to say.

ProseccoIsTheAnswerHere · 03/11/2019 09:43

^ my thoughts exactly rainbow

MonstranceClock · 03/11/2019 09:44

I always make my own fresh rice, so no reheating

OP posts:
loosewomensucks · 03/11/2019 09:46

@QRCode they were Vietnamese not Chinese Hmm

Acciocats · 03/11/2019 09:46

Surely the point of delivery is to have someone else cook it!

MonstranceClock · 03/11/2019 09:48

I just ordered the bits I couldn’t cook because I ran out of oil. I am half Chinese, I always cook my own food but I really wanted crispy shrimp and squid! And then all the other crap I ended up ordering Grin

OP posts:
PooWillyBumBum · 03/11/2019 09:55

If there is no rice I’d probably risk it as long as piping hot. Anything with rice I won’t reheat unless I make it myself (in case it’s already reheated - you never know!)

HiJenny35 · 03/11/2019 09:55

Totally irrelevant if you reheat the rice to very hot as advised by some. Reheating rice doesn't kill the spores. The only way to stop the spores growing, which cause food poisoning, is to cool quickly from when first cooked. As this was a delivery it would have cooled from the point of cooking slowly allowing lots of spores to develop. These will not be killed by reheating. Don't eat the rice, it's one of the biggest food poisoning risks, not worth it, you'll probably be fine but it's dreadful if you're not. The rest I'd risk.

JenniferM1989 · 03/11/2019 10:14

They were Vietnamese, not Chinese 🙄

rainbowunicorn · 03/11/2019 10:20

@QRCode don't be so daft, it was obvious that the OP was talking about food as that is how a chinese takeaway is referred to.
Also maybe get you facts right as it has now been confirmed that none of the poor people who died were in fact Chinese.
