Ordered it on Friday night, ended up having to go away and due back tonight. It will still be ok tonight won’t it? I don’t want to go food shopping. Aibu to eat old Chinese?!

@Mominatrix why are you turning a causal thread about reheating a Chinese takeaway into a thread about racism?
Nothing detrimental about race has been said on this thread.

loosewomensucks · 03/11/2019 11:09

Even the Chinese takeaway from my village call it a Chinese takeaway, not a Chinese style food takeaway.

How long you keep Chinese in the fridge?
SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 03/11/2019 11:14

I wpuld eat it without thinking twice. Including reheated riceBlush I am invincible (knocks on wood)

Wtf is up with dragging racism into food thread? Is nothing sacred anymore?🙄

rainbowconfetti · 03/11/2019 11:19

Wtf is up with dragging racism into food thread?

Some people just look for it don't they Sad

I feel so sorry for OP who only wanted to know if she would be ok to eat her fucking food. She's probably gone off the idea now thanks to some.

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 03/11/2019 11:22

@rainbowconfetti maybe they are envious of OP having that food in a fridge😁 I know I am. Fancy some chinese now.

Confusedbeetle · 03/11/2019 11:23

Cooked rice grows a toxin and should not be eaten more than one day later. Supermarket rice is super steamed first so is less of a problem. I would not eat a chinese meal more than 24 hours later you have no access to their kitchen to know enough about the prep and storage etc. Home cooked food is in your control

Vilanelle · 03/11/2019 11:23

@QRCode I find your post very offensive. That would never have even occurred to me. Disgusting

rainbowconfetti · 03/11/2019 11:24

@Vilanelle

It's awful, isn't it?

I reported it but 🤷‍♀️

ChrisPrattsFace · 03/11/2019 11:27

we always order more to have over the weekend too! I’d say Sunday night is the line for me!

And only food crossed my mind when reading your thread title 🤦🏼‍♀️

AwdBovril · 03/11/2019 11:31

I'd not keep takeaway rice for more than 1 day, & only then if I'd cooled it quickly - I always serve out what I want & immediately cool the rest quickly, same with any dish with prawns. I'm pretty lax with most other foods TBH, but rice & prawns are tricky. Especially if they've come from a takeaway, you don't know how long they were kept hot, nor how hot.

Home cooked food, I'm a "keep it till it's done" kind of person. Very lazy. But I also cool saucepans of leftovers etc in a bowl of water so they can go quickly into the fridge.

MarshallPNutt · 03/11/2019 11:32

I am reminded of an Indian friend of mine who came into work one day grinning, telling me she and her family had "had an English last night". We were in India at the time. She had made a vegetable lasagne - which isn't even English Smile Obviously I pulled her up on her casual racism.

(I did not do that because what she said was not, in the least bit, offensive).

Offence requires a taker, as well as a giver.

Eat the food, OP!

Just heat it up properly Grin

WorraLiberty · 03/11/2019 11:33

Jesus QRCode, it's one thing having a mind that works that way, but admitting to it in public and then suggesting the OP get the thread title changed because of it, is quite something else Confused

malmi · 03/11/2019 11:40

If Jimmy Carr gets wind of this thread he'll be working it into his next routine...

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 03/11/2019 12:02

Tbf @malmi who wouldn't 🤷

Mominatrix · 03/11/2019 12:59

@Mominatrix why are you turning a causal thread about reheating a Chinese takeaway into a thread about racism?
Nothing detrimental about race has been said on this thread.

Because it is not just a casual thread - it is casually racist. The fact that the vast majority of you can't see this is indicative of the deep seeded racism which exists in this country. The fact that none of you can see how offensive these sorts of statements does not nullify the fact that it is casually racist.

There is nothing racist about asking if you can reheat your food after 2 days Hmm

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 03/11/2019 13:10

I read your thread title and thought it was in poor taste after recent events with the 39 people who died in a refrigerated lorry. Could you perhaps get it edited to add the word 'food'?

Oh give over 🙄

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 03/11/2019 13:10

Oh and in answer to the OP,yes I'd eat it.

TrixieFranklin · 03/11/2019 13:14

What's wrong with people? It's a thread about food not racism.

Pinkarsedfly · 03/11/2019 13:15

This thread is Confused

FizzyIce · 03/11/2019 13:20

Have to say though, reheated squid is going to be foul and have the texture of an old tyre !

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 03/11/2019 13:25

What happened this weekend? There was a thread which started with missing father and ended with German donner and now we have chinese takeaway thread ending with racism claims😳
I loved the first one. Not quite same feelings about this one...

Poor OP🙄

MonstranceClock · 03/11/2019 15:15

@Mominatrix are you Chinese?

OP posts:
Mominatrix · 03/11/2019 16:40

There is nothing racist about asking if you can reheat your food after 2 days hmm

Then the title of the thread should say "How long will leftover Chinese food keep..."

Simple, no hmmm required.

No, I am not Chinese, but to you lot I would be Chinese. I am of East Asian descent with parents who lived through the brutality of the Japanese in WWII and through the Chinese influence in North Korea in the Korean War.

SafetyAdvice0FeedWhenAgitated · 03/11/2019 16:50

@mominatrix are you ok? Are you having a bad day? Do you want to talk about it?
