I shit you not, I managed to leave the hob on low for 48 hours.... Confused what a dick. Ffs.

It was lit if that makes a difference!

I have done this, but not for that long! Oh dear! Go and get an early night!

Ohdeariedear · 17/10/2019 21:56

I’ve done that - not for 48 hours but for the whole day.

Is there a particular reason you are tired ie can you address it?

NamedChange1000 · 17/10/2019 22:03

Thanks - that's made me feel a tad better!

My 1 year old refuses to sleep at the moment and I'm just knackered. My mum is taking her for the night tomorrow night and I can't wait to sleep. We'll get there. Sleep regressions are tough.

Oh I remember that stage. Enjoy an uninterrupted night tonight!

A few months ago I managed to burn a few pans in a row by putting them back on a lit hob. I think I was just so horribly busy I literally didnt have any more room in my brain to think to turn it off.

RumpyBall · 18/10/2019 19:15

I feel your pain OP, I was so tired the other week that I left my front door wide open when I took the kids out. I was gone for just under 2 hours Blush

greathat · 18/10/2019 19:18

I literally exploded a boiled egg doing something similar, wasn't that long though (might have been if not for the bang I suppose.

greyspottedgoose · 18/10/2019 19:25

I burnt potatoes to the pan this week, completely black, no excuse my kids are old enough to sleep just fine

ainsisoisje · 18/10/2019 20:17

I've left the hob on all day lit before and a gas fire all night by accident. These things happen!

PervyMuskrat · 18/10/2019 20:18

I found steak in my spices drawer when I was pregnant with a non sleeping toddler as I’d had a brain fart when putting the shopping away. Be kind to yourself

giddyasakipper · 18/10/2019 20:20

I've done this before but admittedly not for as long. DH was panicking when he couldn't find his keys the other day and it wasn't until we gave up and used spares that we found them in the front door where they had been left overnight...

Didiplanthis · 18/10/2019 20:23

I left the patio door open for a week when we went on holiday...

smemorata · 18/10/2019 20:30

My husband left my car door wide open overnight (parked in road in car crime area!)

icantfind · 18/10/2019 20:35

Are you feeling ok? Other than exhausted? I ask because I left the hob on and nearly burnt down the house when I was in the middle of an undiagnosed mental health issue.

CycleWoman · 18/10/2019 20:43

Urgh sleep deprivation makes me do stuff like that too. I have terrible paranoia about the job but my fail of choice is leaving my keys in the front door, clearly exposed for any passing burglar.

CycleWoman · 18/10/2019 20:44

The job? The hob!

ILiveInSalemsLot · 18/10/2019 20:45

I’ve done that. Went to work, came home and the hob was still on.
I burn toast most days.

Dontsayyouloveme · 18/10/2019 20:50

Oh I’ve done this twice recently, in the space of four weeks! I’m exhausted/majorly stressed/menopausal so it’s game over for me!

Both times it was lit. once overnight, luckily only me at home that time, second, left it on all evening whilst I went to Take That concert!

You’d think after the first time I’d realise that a very very hot kitchen, an hour after cooking, is a sign the hob is still bloody on!

I’ve left my house keys in the front door twice too!

😧😧

I have done this OP. Put a plastic chopping board on top too. Literally started melting straight away. I have twins who were 2 a couple of months ago. Couple of times I have been up 20+ times a night. I can barely see straight some days. It is hard and I do worry some days as my brain is a constant fog.

Merryoldgoat · 18/10/2019 21:15

I bawled out my 5yo fit spilling water and letting the 10mth old crawl in it.

Turns out I forgot to put a nappy on him I was so knackered.

Staysexyanddontgetmurdered · 18/10/2019 21:26

I once left the iron on and went on a long weekend away...before I even had any children as well. Blush

Armbow45 · 18/10/2019 21:28

I forgot to turn the hot tap off on the bathroom sink once. It was still running 8 days later when we returned from holiday......

SunshineAngel · 18/10/2019 21:35

I've left it on before, but I don't think I'd fail to notice it for that long!

Luckily we have an induction hob now, which only works if there's something on it, and turns itself off after a certain amount of time, which is amazing.

NamedChange1000 · 19/10/2019 14:07

Well all these stories are making me feel better thank you Grin

@icantfind I'm fine, honestly, just knackered!
