To be sick of unicorns!

Why do they have to be on everything?
Just tried to buy Dd some pyjamas in town.
Seems like every sodding pair had a unicorn print, I've come home empty handed. FFS.

Why on earth are they so popular? And can someone please make it stop.

Agree. Can't even walk down the road these days with seeing a bloody unicorn. They think they're so special with their horn.

maddening · 14/10/2019 14:35

People like them?

Spied · 14/10/2019 14:35

I hate llamas.
Hopefully these trends will be over soon...

FizzyGreenWater · 14/10/2019 14:36

Unicorns are waning, llamas are waxing.

Not long to go OP.

Unicorns will soon go the way of the flamingo and the owl

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 14/10/2019 14:36

Aww I love the unicorn 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄

Areyoufree · 14/10/2019 14:38

YANBU. Unfortunately my daughter has fallen for the trend. 7 year olds have no taste.

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 14/10/2019 14:39

My unicorn has taken this post very personally op! 🦄

Igotthemheavyboobs · 14/10/2019 14:39

I don't think they are going anywhere fast tbh, still very popular. I don't think the llama is strong enough to overtake it

IceCreamConewithaflake · 14/10/2019 14:40

Unicorns and llamas are passé
It's all about the sloth 'bout the sloth.
Get with it.

BirdyTweet · 14/10/2019 14:40

YES!

BirdyTweet · 14/10/2019 14:41

I want to find girls clothes with pleasant colours (not neon pink) and dinosaurs on them!

livingthegoodlife · 14/10/2019 14:42

My six year old isn't keen on unicorns anymore. I think they're out....

MyNameIsMrsGrumpy · 14/10/2019 14:43

I feel your pain - my dd is unicorn 🦄 and mermaid 🧜‍♀️ mad. Her bedroom is entirely sodding both.

However LOL is coming in very close at the moment 🤦‍♀️

SimonJT · 14/10/2019 14:44

My son is still firmly in camp unicorn, I’m sure another fad will pop along soon.

Nonnymum · 14/10/2019 14:47

I hate that they always pink and made to be something for girls. Boys can like unicorns too. They didn't used to be a 'feminine' thing

mogtheexcellent · 14/10/2019 14:54

I thought unicorns were being replaced by narwhals?

Cant stand unicorns. Fortunately dinosaurs are forever.

BirdyTweet · 14/10/2019 14:54

I do like narwhals actually, they are real creatures!

elaine26 · 14/10/2019 14:58

I agree with you OP, my DD is almost 13 and we struggle to get her pyjamas too, she hates unicorns, mermaids and the colour pink

Whathappenedtothelego · 14/10/2019 14:58

I would have bought sloth pyjamas if there were any. I kept picking up seeming nice-looking ones, looking closer and seeing another inescapable horn Hmm

Fair enough "people like them". But surely they don't like them so much that just one shop has about 5 separate pairs of unicorn design pyjamas!

Hate this cynical marketing - plus it hasn't even worked on Dd as she doesn't like them, so therefore she doesn't get to have new pyjamas.

So bored of all the shops selling essentially the same product.

OP posts:
Dahlietta · 14/10/2019 15:02

People like them because people follow trends. There were no unicorns when I was a kid and nobody had a unicorn-shaped hole in their life. I have noticed the rise of the llama - what a weird replacement. I mean, there's nothing wrong with a llama, but there's nothing especially right with one either.

IdentifyasTired · 14/10/2019 15:03

I bought my girls some pyjamas from Aldi of all places. Pale pink with little stars. Not garish and surprisingly good quality. Only £4.99 a pair.
Might be worth a look if you have an Aldi nearby?
Also Sainsburys do some good girls nightwear? Some unicorn stuff but it’s not on everything.

PiggyPlumPie · 14/10/2019 15:04

DD was annoyed this morning, every t-shirt in her size this morning in Primark had unicorns on. She's 14 FFS!

IdentifyasTired · 14/10/2019 15:06

tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Pink-%26-Oatmeal-3-Pack-Snuggle-Fit-Pyjamas-%281-5-12-Years%29/135433153-Pink?searchTerm=:newArrivals&searchProduct=

These are pretty easy on the eyes. No neon colours or horned creatures!

(I’m not a Sainsburys rep, honest)

powershowerforanhour · 14/10/2019 15:15

My MIL bought a packet of pants for 3yo DD recently. DD chose them and they are comfy looking with fairly flat seams round the legs, great. One pair has a swan wearing a tiara, another has a llama with pastel balloons tied round it. But they are knocked out of the park by the one with a flying pug with butterfly wings on and a unicorn horn coming out of its head, surrounded by hearts. Designer was like "Hold my drink and watch me jump the shark". WTAF. Got to hand it to them. I hope they had a bet on with a friend that they would get the design made cos they deserve to collect with that one.

Househunt1 · 14/10/2019 15:15

I don't have a problem with unicorns but I have a problem with grown women liking them, omg grow up and don't put silly voices on about them
