My oven and hob have both just died completely and I have no idea what to make for dinner. Any ideas are much appreciated, I have a hungry 2 year old waiting for her tea! TIA!

ChicCroissant · 08/10/2019 17:48

Do you have a microwave, could do an omlette or scrambled eggs? Baked potato or cook pasta in a large bowl with boiling water?

Lockheart · 08/10/2019 17:48

Salad with cold meats and cheese.

Microwave meals.

Toast with beans / nutella.

TeaAndChocolateBiscuits · 08/10/2019 17:48

What have you got in the cupboards? Do you have a microwave? Could you do a picnic dinner with sandwiches crisps fruit etc?

seaweedandmarchingbands · 08/10/2019 17:48

WalkAwaySugarbear · 08/10/2019 17:50

Cereal or picnic as a one off?

MrsJoshNavidi · 08/10/2019 17:50

Sandwiches.

In all honesty, there's not a lot you can make with no oven and no hob. Microwaved meals are 🤮. I think I'd go out, or get a takeaway.

TheFairyCaravan · 08/10/2019 17:51

Sorry missed the bit about the hob so pasta would be difficult

AdaColeman · 08/10/2019 17:51

Sandwiches.

HopeIsNotAStrategy · 08/10/2019 17:52

Check the fusebox. If they’re separate and they’ve both died that sounds like a supply problem.

Hairdryer a can of beans? 😄 See what you’ve got in the fridge, something cold won’t hurt for once.

Microwave some potatoes or boil some rice or veg in a dish with some waster.

simonisnotme · 08/10/2019 17:52

jacket spud and beans with cheese

Sparklesocks · 08/10/2019 17:53

Some great options above, but I’d be tempted to nip to the chippy...

WarshipWarrior · 08/10/2019 17:53

Wtf do you even need to ask?? This is why takeaways are invented. I'm always looking for an excuse to order a takeaway and this would be it!! FYI if both the oven and separate hob have died at the exact same time and they're not connected then it's likely a fuse/electrical issue.

PotteringAlong · 08/10/2019 17:54

Chip shop, clearly!

WarshipWarrior · 08/10/2019 17:54

Everyone suggesting jacket potatoes from the microwave - heathens!! That's so gross. Crispy skin for the win.

minipie · 08/10/2019 17:54

Sandwich and raw veg (cucumber carrots etc)
Peanut butter on toast and veg
Avocado on toast and veg

HerRoyalNotness · 08/10/2019 17:54

Ploughman’s lunch style thing, cheese, bread, pickles, apples
