To be slightly puzzled at this Xmas decoration?

So ... am I being unreasonable in seeing this as the ultimate "absent father's Xmas decoration?"

It was not a broken decoration, they were all like that, with a single gingerbread mum.

To be slightly puzzled at this Xmas decoration?

It's a bit early to be huffing glue, isn't it?

EskewedBeef · 27/09/2019 08:48

I don't think the gingerbread man is representing Mum. It's just a generic design that they'll stick all sorts of names on.

RiftGibbon · 27/09/2019 08:49

I think it's supposed to be just a jolly gingerbread person on the decoration, and not a mum - but it's badly placed.

BlueMoonRising · 27/09/2019 08:49

Huh? It's a gingerbread man. I don't think parents usually are. Would you be puzzled by a decoration that had a single reindeer or penguin?

You are massively overthinking this.

blahdehbleh · 27/09/2019 08:50

Bit early too be drinking

Unshriven · 27/09/2019 08:51

I'm not generally prone to stereotyping, but I'd say Mr. Bow-tie there is definitely a gingerbread man.

Do you often just go making crap up to irritate yourself?

DappledThings · 27/09/2019 08:51

It's just a decorated house and a gingerbread man, a couple of vaguely Christmassy related things. The names underneath don't relate to the ornament.

If I received that with "Dappled" written on the bottoml I wouldn't think the gingerbread person was supposed to represent me!

Ponoka7 · 27/09/2019 08:53

Perhaps the Ginderbread person (it has no genitals) is the child?

GlitterDalek · 27/09/2019 08:54

That was meant to be lighthearted peeps!

Oh and it's Friday! It's not too early to lace one's cappuccino with vodka flourishes and dance around the office (house) like nobody's watching even if they all are GrinGrinGrin

It has a bow tie. Gingerbread women have aprons...now that's something to get annoyed about!

Maybe "mum" is transgender

Waiting1987 · 27/09/2019 08:56
Confused
GlitterDalek · 27/09/2019 08:58

That would be destroying the sacred unity of the family! Not only single parent but Non gender conforming. Eek. Je me clutches ma necklach de perles.

YABU. It's September, nothing Christmassy is ever seen or mentioned here until the houses of mumsnet are decorated by singing children with homemade cookies on Christmas eve.

@DappledThings : where did you find one with dappled on it? My name is Alex, which is pretty standard I believe, and they didn't have it!!

Oh. OK.

If you want to make a funny comment then it helps if you actually, you know, make it funny.

"Do you often just go making crap up to irritate yourself?"

I love this comment!

dollydaydream114 · 27/09/2019 09:23

Run along and play, now.

Selmababies · 27/09/2019 09:30

I think you may be over thinking this...

Hoppinggreen · 27/09/2019 09:30

That’s a Gingerbread MAN, as a recent court ruling proved women who give birth are Mums not Dads. So that is a Dad

22Giraffes · 27/09/2019 09:34

Too early for Genderbread discussions... Grin

Shoutouttomyspecs · 27/09/2019 10:16

Oh dear.
Is it a school holiday today?

BenWillbondsPants · 27/09/2019 10:20

I've read the replies and still don't understand.

BenWillbondsPants · 27/09/2019 10:21

Oooooh I get it now.

Bibidy · 27/09/2019 10:24

LOL what makes you think it's a gingerbread mum?! Hilarious.

The gingerbread man is just the design, it's not mum and dad!
