To think drunk people are rude.

Every time me and DP go out on a night out, someone will say something rude. Like, wow how did you pull her, or, has he got a big dick or something? Basically people coming right out and saying he is ugly.

Usually it is someone he knows but there has been many times that it's been strangers. Last night his neighbour who I met for the first time was telling me how gorgeous I am and why am I with DP, he must be good in bed. A friend of a friend who neither of us had met before said blatantly to our faces, said what, you are with him?

For the record, I am not gorgeous in any way, I am probably a solid 7 when I have a full face of slap on and my hair done. I am very smiley though which seems to make people more attractive than they actually are. DP is not conventionally good looking as such but nor is he quasimodo. He doesn't have any deformity or anything, he's just a bog standard average bloke.

What I don't understand, even if he was really ugly, why do people feel it is OK to comment. It's just so rude. I wouldnt dream of saying anything like that.

DP just laughs it off and is proud to have what he sees as a beautiful girlfriend but it can't do his self esteem any favours.

So AIBU to think drunk people are so rude! I just wouldn't ever dream to comment on that way. It makes me feel so uncomfortable.

I think it's strange that so many people are saying this. And all of them drunk!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/09/2019 11:57

What Batshittery said.

Zebraaa · 22/09/2019 11:58

I think people are mean... poor guy

PotPlantKiller · 22/09/2019 12:00

The first few times it happened I just kind of laughed it off but it is literally every time we go out.

Thats why I started the post because its just odd isn't it.

My sisters have said it to me privately but randoms and people he knows slightly is just weird and rude.

Hmmmmm. Fascinating.

I never realised that drunk people could be rude. Or annoying at all

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 22/09/2019 12:01

Or maybe you're just absolutely gorgeous?

LisaSimpsonsbff · 22/09/2019 12:02

These people are definitely incredibly rude but you talk as if this is a common problem - I think it's more specific to you and DH than you think!

Sunbeam18 · 22/09/2019 12:03

Humblebrag

AuntieMarys · 22/09/2019 12:04

Start drinking in better places

PotPlantKiller · 22/09/2019 12:05

I am definitely not gorgeous. I scrub up ok but far from gorgeous.

Batshittery · 22/09/2019 12:07

If it's 'literally every time' you go out, are there really drunk people there, every time? I go out a lot but don't see many drunk people

ssd · 22/09/2019 12:07

Bullshit.

Jaxhog · 22/09/2019 12:08

Change where you go out together. Most people aren't this rude - sober or drunk.

Lorddenning1 · 22/09/2019 12:08

Lol a solid 7

DontTouchTheMoustache · 22/09/2019 12:08

Humblebrag

Yep 😂 not even very humble. Well done for being so gorgeous that people routinely comment on it op, we are all very jealous.

PotPlantKiller · 22/09/2019 12:11

That's the thing though, I am not so gorgeous at all which is why I am thinking my DP must be seen as pretty ugly.

OP posts:
lakeloveragain · 22/09/2019 12:12

So you've basically posted this to say your pretty and your bf is ugly? I've never had this happen on a night out and neither has anyone I know. Male friends might rib one another but that's it.

Funghi · 22/09/2019 12:12

The people you’ve mentioned are all known to your partner, perhaps this is just their way of getting to know you. My DH’s friends did similar but it was jokey and we were all entirely aware there was no truth behind it.

Perhaps that’s because I’m not a solid 7 though... Sad

InsertFunnyUsername · 22/09/2019 12:13

You're hanging around In the wrong places.

For what it's worth I'm a solid 1000 and DP a measly 0.5 and no one says anything Wink

PotPlantKiller · 22/09/2019 12:14

I have obviously worded it all wrong. I am trying to get to the point of why people think it is OK to be so bloody rude to my partner, just because they are drunk doesn't make it OK.
I shoukd have just left the nature of the comments out and said people are rude to my bfs face.

Then everyone would ask what they were saying and I would have been accused of drip feeding.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 22/09/2019 12:14

You need to change where you are going out, spending all that time with drunk people? I can't think of anything worse.
Your sisters have commented, presumably when sober?
Maybe one of you needs too go out with a bag on their head to stop the constant harassment Grin

BlackCatSleeping · 22/09/2019 12:15

Maybe it’s more styling. Does he dress nice? Style his hair? Is he in shape? It might be more a mismatch in style rather than just looks.

LonginesPrime · 22/09/2019 12:17

^ This. If you're hanging round with idiots they will say idiotic things. Just go somewhere better where people are more respectful.

jackparlabane · 22/09/2019 12:17

Some people say that kind of thing thinking it's a compliment on the woman's looks. Usually people who think women aim to be beautiful and blokes shouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised if the same people are also often drunk in public. I used to get the same 20 years ago, usually people 'complimenting' a boyfriend on pulling me, like I'd had no say in the matter...

PotPlantKiller · 22/09/2019 12:19

To be fair our local night life is a total dive town so you could be right about hanging out in better places. A fair percentage of them are smashed on all kinds of drugs too which doesn't help.

A change of scene might help.

He dresses nicely but is a bit over weight. But then I am at the tope end of healthy weight myself so it's not like I am a fit gym bunny or anything. I have to wear spanx to go out.
