Waiting in line at customer services in Tesco.
Well dressed older couple (70 ish) walk past pushing their trolley. Stop at ‘free fruit for kids stand’, select banana, peel and eat......
Is that CFery or AIBU?

Does it really matter who eats the free fruit? It's not like they snatched it from the hand of a starving child, is it?

TheBrilloPad · 13/09/2019 21:51

I see this so often in my Tescos! Not OAPs, but just businessmen in suits, single women on their own etc. It's free fruit FOR KIDS, not for anyone!

NChereNNow · 13/09/2019 21:51

Just because they were well dressed doesn't mean they weren't hungry.

My gran was piss poor and used to wear her best for shopping trips.

They may have had a very small budget for food. No breakfast.

I don't begrudge them a banana that was put out for taking (albeit for another demographic).

NChereNNow · 13/09/2019 21:52

Alot of older people are struggling to eat these days. Sad but true.

BaronessBomburst · 13/09/2019 21:52

My local supermarket puts out coffee and biscuits, as well as fruit. It's for anyone.

flyingspaghettimonster · 13/09/2019 21:54

Might have low blood sugar and need the energy to get round the shop. Don't judge.

iago · 13/09/2019 21:55

Bollocks! Of course they weren't poor and hungry! Just CFs

Passthecherrycoke · 13/09/2019 21:56

My mil does this. She just loves a freebie and doesn’t bother reading the sign

TheTrollFairy · 13/09/2019 21:57

Apparently it happens a lot.
I was telling my DD she couldn’t have 2 bits and the guy who worked there said she could have it and then said about adults eating it

userxx · 13/09/2019 21:58

You are being massively unreasonable. Old people need vitamins too.

Thegreatfruittheft · 13/09/2019 21:58

The fact they were pushing a full trolley suggested they weren’t on their uppers (sorry didn’t intend to drip feed) but point about blood sugar is one I hadn’t considered.
Hey ho

Windydaysuponus · 13/09/2019 21:58

Was wondering how a pensioner had a grandmother!?

Passthecherrycoke · 13/09/2019 21:59

“Might have low blood sugar and need the energy to get round the shop. Don't judge”

Oh come on.... 🤣🤣

Halo1234 · 13/09/2019 22:00

Maybe they are on a tight budget. Its Tesco's sure they can afford an extra apple or two for the elderly customers. Hardly stealing from anyone vulnerable. I wont have cared if I saw that tbh. Leave them to it. Who are they hurting? Dont grudge them a bit of fruit from Tesco.

Swisskit · 13/09/2019 22:01

Aside, but when did we start saying "waiting in line" instead of "in the queue"? Seen it an awful lot recently.

NannyR · 13/09/2019 22:01

I wouldn't begrudge anyone eating a piece of fruit. You don't know their circumstances, despite them being well dressed and it's not like the odd pensioner taking a piece of fruit is going to put Tesco in financial difficulties.

messolini9 · 13/09/2019 22:02

What do you are about Tesco's profits?
Hand the old guys another banana.

messolini9 · 13/09/2019 22:02

CARE, not are!

UrsulaPandress · 13/09/2019 22:03

Tesco can afford it.

64sNewName · 13/09/2019 22:05

I wouldn’t be bothered by this. Elderly people can be vulnerable in various ways (and I’m not saying they were, but you don’t really know) - so I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. Pick your battles etc.

Y A BU not to have given your thread the title: Nanas nicking 'nanas.

(Yes, it sounds like one was a man, I know, but absolute truth is overrated, imo)

BusySittingDown · 13/09/2019 22:06

It is a bit cheeky as that's not what it's there for but...meh. Who cares?

Itsfineactually · 13/09/2019 22:06

Fucking hell! Who gives a shit?! If this is what you spend your time fretting about then you lead a very simple life.

Beacauseisaidso · 13/09/2019 22:07

Yabu
Tesco is not a charity.
Who cares who eats what.
