Irresponsible & pointless marketing or is it just me who thinks this?

I completely agree, pointless.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 09/09/2019 12:53

Fucking hell! Is that a parody?

No, I suppose it is the real Boden!

A dog is not for Christmas, it is for a dress!

Unihorn · 09/09/2019 12:54

I think you're overreacting.

Thehop · 09/09/2019 12:57

Ridiculous advertising

Raver84 · 09/09/2019 12:58

I think your reading far too much into a stupid advert.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 09/09/2019 13:00

Oh come on! A dog as the perfect foil to a frock? That's a bit beyond ridiculous, isn't it!

We can mock... can we not?

westcountrychicken · 09/09/2019 13:01

But I love dogs and hate dresses. Where the fuck do I stand on this?

Subeccoo · 09/09/2019 13:05

Isn't it a play on a dog tooth pattern?! Or is it a tiny dog pattern on the dress?!

TheSpottedZebra · 09/09/2019 13:07

It's a lovely dog - what breed is it?

Confrontayshunme · 09/09/2019 13:32

I wouldn't let a pooch get hair and scratches all over my Boden dress, but then I'm cheap.

Pantsomime · 09/09/2019 13:33

A Bodle?

OP posts:
MrsMozartMkII · 09/09/2019 13:34

Barking mad!

(Pun both intended and not Grin)

recrudescence · 09/09/2019 13:40

So every time she wants to wear that dress she needs to be holding that dog? Would be much more practical to get a matching handbag.

SachaStark · 09/09/2019 14:07

I suppose if you’re holding a big-ish dog, then it will cover up more of the frumpy pattern and frumpy cut of those Boden dresses?

LakieLady · 09/09/2019 14:15

As if there aren't enough people who treat a dog as the latest must-have fashion accessory?

I'm even more horrified that it's my breed of dog (lakeland terrier) being used. I had to find another pic to check, but it definitely is

www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/sabina-jersey-tunic-ruby-ring-pear-droplet/sty-j0495-dpr?cat=C1_S2_G360

They are a real handful and definitely not suitable for a first-time or inexperienced dog owner. I hope to god they don't become the next French bulldog. Mind you, they're on the endangered breed register, I doubt if many people wanting a fashion dog will be prepared to wait a year to get a puppy.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 09/09/2019 14:19

A Bodle Grin Cake

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 09/09/2019 14:24

What a stupid irresponsible advert. Some people already see dogs as accessories all this will do is support those idiots in believing they are right.

I'm flaming amazed it made it through to print without someone saying "hey you know what this is probably not a good idea!"

Patnotpending · 09/09/2019 16:10

That looks to me like a Lakeland terrier. I used to have one. The reason you don't see many around is that the pure bred ones tend to be stubborn, difficult and snappy dogs. When Lakeland owners meet each other they usually compare scars and horror stories. They are really cute-looking but don't be tempted – in my case 15 years of constant vigilance.

sophiasnail · 09/09/2019 16:34

I'm not sure that dress would go with my poodle.... do they do other colours?

LochJessMonster · 09/09/2019 16:41

The breed is a lakeland terrier or a soft coated wheaten terrier.

justonecottonpickingminute · 09/09/2019 16:48

It's a Lakeland terrie, not a soft-coated wheaten terrier (the latter is quite a lot bigger and a different shape).

Patnotpending · 09/09/2019 16:50

No, a Wheaten is bigger and its coat finer and silkier when cut. That's a Lakeland – and the photo of it dancing on its hind legs for a treat is absolutely what they do. I've never known any other breed stand up on its hind legs so regularly or for so long.

AryaStarkWolf · 09/09/2019 17:25

I doubt people are suddenly going start buying dogs to match their clothes Grin

ShirleyPhallus · 09/09/2019 17:26

I hardly think the demographic for Boden are the irresponsible “buy a dog on a whim cos it goes with my dress” sorts. Won’t they all already have posh dogs to go with their farmhouses?!

I could see the point if it was Boohoo or something
