To ask if anyone has experienced eBay Global Shipping

I have ordered a large item from the US and it turns out it's being sent through the GSP

Online reviews are NOT encouraging but most seem to be from a few years ago.

Anyone used this recently? How bad is it? Be honest. Should I be afraid? Should I be very very afraid? 😨

I have bought a couple of items that used it - fine on all occasions.

I have also sold a few items and shipped them this way over the last year (including a couple of higher value items) - both arrived really quickly with the recipient.

Star81 · 06/09/2019 18:25

I have recently sold a few things and it turned out it was using the GSP and I had no problems at all.

sparkles07 · 06/09/2019 18:26

Sold on there a couple of times this month and been fine, never bought from it though, but would without reservation

magicstar1 · 06/09/2019 18:34

I bought an item on August 10th and it still hasn’t shown up. The GSP tracking shows it was sent on 12th, but no updates since, and it’s impossible to contact anyone. It’s awfully frustrating

70sWitch · 06/09/2019 18:43

Well. I do feel a bit better thanks. But see @magicstar1 that ties in with what I heard.

Mind you, my expected delivery date is 4th Oct so I'm expecting it to be stupidly slow.

Bought two things recently that were shipped this way. The first was from an individual- never arrived, took ages for seller to respond, eventually refunded. The second was from a small business, no issues at all and arrived promptly.

70sWitch · 06/09/2019 20:40

Seller is a business with 100% feedback, however I understand the problems usually arise when eBay take control of the package.

I have paid with MasterCard so hopefully if it all goes wrong I won't have to rely on PayPal to sort it out as my experiences there are not great.

But 🤞

I use it to sell. Only had one problem - an item got broken in transit to the USA. Went through the proper channels and eBay fully refunded the buyer and I didn't lose out.
It puts people off because it's expensive but I prefer to use it for international selling.

70sWitch · 07/09/2019 11:51

No dispatch notification yet.

OP posts:
70sWitch · 13/09/2019 10:57

Ok. So it's been in the UK since Tuesday and not moved. Seems to be stuck between 2 companies neither of which will be actually delivering it.

Ridiculous!

OP posts:
70sWitch · 13/09/2019 11:00

And yes. It was stupidly expensive. Never again. I'm v unhappy to have paid so much for such inefficiency. It had better not be damaged.

MyDcAreMarvel · 13/09/2019 11:04

Was the MasterCard linked to your PayPal account?

Starrynights86 · 13/09/2019 11:04

I have. It arrived quicker then I expected.

kaitlinktm · 13/09/2019 11:06

Yes once - and it did take ages and it did seem to get stuck in one place for a long time, it was expensive and I opened a request/dispute - but it did eventually turn up.

70sWitch · 13/09/2019 11:09

Was the MasterCard linked to your PayPal account?

No. I have no faith in PayPal tbh.

OP posts:
70sWitch · 13/09/2019 11:13

As I understand it. It's been passed to a retail co who have passed it to an intermediary who will eventually pass it to a courier???
But it's still with the retail co . Only the data has been sent - on Wed.

It's like a farce. Confused

OP posts:
MyDcAreMarvel · 13/09/2019 11:15

That’s good as you loose cc protection if it’s linked to PayPal.

Didn't know this but it figures. PayPal are sharks. I hate 'em. Grin

70sWitch · 13/09/2019 11:23

Well. Pretty mixed reviews on here. I'll just have to sit tight and hope. Not expecting much to happen over the weekend. Except maybe 7 more emails from eBay telling me it's "out for delivery" when it clearly isn't. Confused Grin

70sWitch · 14/09/2019 11:31

Parcel arrived today containing only ONE item. I ordered 2.

Am bloody furious.

OP posts:
kaitlinktm · 15/09/2019 11:02

If they were both from the same seller than that's the seller's fault though rather than Global Shipping.

YeOldeTrout · 15/09/2019 11:21

As a seller I'm not brave enough to use it, but I'd not hesitate to use it as a buyer, assuming no other source same price/quality in UK. I've orderd from China, too.. Your money is guaranteed, goods or money back. Don't use it for anything time urgent, obviously.

70sWitch · 15/09/2019 20:12

@kaitlinktm Agreed but the GSP does make any refund a pain as the shipping and customs charges have to be refunded separately to the item. The seller never sees that money.
And eBay are being difficult about it as they reckon it's not their fault.

OP posts:
70sWitch · 15/09/2019 20:14

I order from China. Quality is poor and they NEVER agree to refund. It's hit and miss whether eBay will back you.
But I do risk it sometimes.
