I know we're supposed to support other women and good on her for being a party leader but aibu for thinking she's a real wet blanket of a leader.

OP posts:
0lga · 05/09/2019 22:35

I don’t know if she’s a wet blanket. But she’s against women’s rights so I won’t be voting for her.

PurpleDaisies · 05/09/2019 22:36

What specifically don’t you like about her?

PurpleDaisies · 05/09/2019 22:38

FWIW I don’t think women automatically need to support other women just because they’re women.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/09/2019 22:40

Is that you Jeremy?

She appears to be very popular and doing something right.

Templetonstunafish · 05/09/2019 22:43

She's against women's rights? @0lga

Templetonstunafish · 05/09/2019 22:44

Surely she isn't as bad as the last one? Wasn't he morally opposed to homosexuality? I find the libdems altogether quite uninspiring. After what the Con-dem coalition did to this country I don't know how anyone could support them. what do they really stand for?

Didiusfalco · 05/09/2019 22:45

I agree, she doesn’t come across as confident and decisive. It’s a shame really, all the political parties have duff leaders at the moment and more statesman-like and competent mps within their ranks. It’s not a woman thing - I saw Anna Soubry speaking in parliament yesterday and she was really commanding, same with Yvette Cooper. Jo Swinson looks like someone new to the job (which she is) who feels a bit out of her depth.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/09/2019 22:47

Surely she isn't as bad as the last one? Wasn't he morally opposed to homosexuality?

That was the one before. Vince Cable was the last one. A decent sort but clearly now completely forgettable.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/09/2019 22:48

And what do they really stand for? Remain, at the moment. Unlike labour who can’t decide what they think. Shambles.

ShrinkWrap · 05/09/2019 22:56

I understand where you are coming from but now I disagree. I’m bored of listening to the bombastic bullshit of Bojo and Corbz. Actually she comes across as very reasonable and intelligent and a decent person. Which isn’t much I suppose, but in these current times it kind of is!

The other night in parliament when some bloke shouted out ‘Sit down, Love’ to Swinson...I just have no words. Well I do but...

Tim Farron was terrible both in his personal beliefs and his lack of charisma / leadership. Vince was 20 years too old and lost momentum further. Jo is getting increasing air time, gaining support and I hope changing things around.

Tolleshunt · 05/09/2019 23:00

A good friend of mine lives in her constituency and says she is a fantastic MP, who really goes the extra mile to fight for her constituents. I think she will grow in gravitas.

TerfTalk · 05/09/2019 23:04

She doesn't know what a woman is... so she's lost my vote.

soupmaker · 05/09/2019 23:08

She was happy to go into coalition with the Tories and voted with them on austerity policies which hurt the most vulnerable people. She'll never get my vote.

ShrinkWrap · 05/09/2019 23:08

Against woman’s rights; doesn’t know what a woman is...

OK so this is a trans thing again.

What specifically? And how is her view different from any other party leader.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 05/09/2019 23:09

She wanted to raise a statue of Margaret Thatcher so it’s a no from me. Tory-lite.

Here's her record.... Quite a few things to further put me off the Lib Dems. Yes they are pro EU but that's all.

Yogurtcoveredricecake · 05/09/2019 23:13

Aren't all lib Dems a bit wet? Isn't that their thing?

VenusClapTrap · 05/09/2019 23:13

I like her. I don’t find her massively charismatic, but I’d sooner have her running the country than Johnson or Corbyn.

CGTER567 · 05/09/2019 23:14

Surely she isn't as bad as the last one? Wasn't he morally opposed to homosexuality?
That was Clegg, I think? But at least he had the decency to stand down, knowing that his views were not in line with the Lib Dems.
Surely it only matters if she is a candidate in your area anyway?

FeminismandWomensFights · 05/09/2019 23:17

what do they really stand for?

Remain. Not having any more of this utterly corrosive shit show that is Brexit.
She’s competent and i’m sure she’ll be a good leader. I’m glad if she’s a proper hardworking grown up MP.

AdidasBunny · 05/09/2019 23:18

I'm annoyed about her association with fracking.

TerfTalk · 05/09/2019 23:20

Im not a Tory, but I'm fairly certain Boris knows what a woman is...

GrapefruitsAreNotTheOnlyFruit · 05/09/2019 23:21

Well I am sure we can all find reasons to be put off her, things she has voted for that we don't agree with. The trans nonsense etc.

But we dont have unlimited choices and in a three way choice between her, Johnson and Corbyn I am voting for her every time.

AnnabellaFagina · 05/09/2019 23:24

Given the other two choices are a sociopath narcissist and a wokebro beardy brexiter, she seems alright to me.

Finallyithappenedtome · 05/09/2019 23:28

A good friend of mine lives in her constituency and says she is a fantastic MP, who really goes the extra mile to fight for her constituents. I think she will grow in gravitas

She’s my PM and I’d say this could not be further from the truth. She’s awful. Never here unless there’s a photo op. If she bothers answering queries it’s too late to help. I stopped voting LibDem as soon as she joined the Tories as I knew there was no hope with her then. I’m embarrassed to say I voted for her up until the last two GE.
