I know we're supposed to support other women and good on her for being a party leader but aibu for thinking she's a real wet blanket of a leader.

I know her, she’s a friend of a friend & is normal, down to earth & immediately likeable. I think she’s talking a huge amount of sense, but then give Bojos extremism, Corbz lack of decision the playing field is empty! More women would be a great thing, in my opinion. But not Andrea whatshername who has just been in newsnight. She was awful!

Jo Swinson, vapid, comes across as girlish rather than as a mature woman. That's surface stuff. Now why I thoroughly dislike her: she's anti democratic, having said if leave won a 2nd referendum she would ignore it. Give ANY lib dem a sniff of power and their "principles" fly out of the window, a habit ingrained in them for decades. Her voting record has, like that of her colleagues, played a huge part in what's happened to the country, by shoring up Cameron and Osborne's government, inflicting hardship on the have nots. Jo Swinson would happily wave any male who fancies it through to women's safe spaces, thus rendering them unsafe.
Furthermore, by rubber stamping the acceleration of women's pension age, left me, personally, in dire straits and entering "pensionhood" penniless. The ConLibDem alliance pulled a blinder on 1950's born women. You kind of expect the Cons to do things like that, but I, for one, expected better of the liberals.

I voted for her once, many many years ago. Regret it now.
Glad she stays out of Scottish politics.

Brooklynninenineninetynine · 06/09/2019 00:35

I used to live in her constituency and I'm shocked to hear that anyone from there would rate her at all. She doesn't even live anywhere near her constituency, pops in for photo ops when it suits her agenda.

putsomethingontheendofit · 06/09/2019 00:44

I like Jo Swinson, and will vote for her. I don't think she is a huge 'personality' in the way some others have been, but I do think she will do what is right for the country. I'm tired of 'loud' politicians like Boris making noise.

Cwenthryth · 06/09/2019 00:44

I personally disagree with pretty much every view that I know she has, but I don’t think she’s a wet blanket, I think she’s fairly clear and consistent with her messaging. I don’t support the message but I do at least feel I understand what her point is. Unlike some other MPs!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 06/09/2019 01:10

Surely she isn't as bad as the last one? Wasn't he morally opposed to homosexuality?

That was Clegg, I think?

Nope, it was Tim Farron. Nick Clegg was the student tuition fees one.

Nancydrawn · 06/09/2019 01:16

She's a good tactician. The Phillip Lee moment was very well stage managed.

Bahlindah · 06/09/2019 01:27

I don't find her inspiring but competent and the best of a bad bunch at the moment.

Gorse · 06/09/2019 01:34

Ah, Nick Clegg, now Facebook's ambassador to Europe or somesuch. Million £s a year. It's true, shit really does rise to the top.
