To tell everyone how much I love my son!

After a phone call this evening that really upset me, made me feel taken for granted, used and pretty sad, my 17yo DS put on some loud music and made me dance around the room with him throwing some shapes until I laughed at him and with him. He cheered me right up and seemed to know the right things to say. When I'm in bed later trying to sleep and all those feelings from that phone call come flooding back I'm going to thank my lucky stars I have him.

That's lovely op Smile you're lucky to have each other.
My son is only 3 and I love him more than anything in this world.

Gigis · 04/09/2019 21:06

Your son sounds wonderful! I'm sorry about the phone call, but you should definitely remember how great he sounds

PleasedToSeeYou · 04/09/2019 21:06

That's so lovely, glad you feel better. What a lovely lad you have

DaveCoachesgavemetheclap · 04/09/2019 21:07

He sounds like a Star

Jamhandprints · 04/09/2019 21:11

Aw, what a lovely boy! :-)

HopefulButScared · 04/09/2019 21:11

That is so lovely. I hope my son (currently 3) grows up to be that thoughtful, insightful and caring.

DramaAlpaca · 04/09/2019 21:11

Awww, that's lovely. Your son sounds great. Sometimes they know just what to do or say.

Last week I'd had a really tough day at work. DS, who's 21, listened to me have a whinge, made me a brew & gave me some advice that was spot on. He's great to have around.

HappySonHappyMum · 04/09/2019 21:14

Thanks all - I have a nasty habit of lying in bed at night overthinking things and phone calls like that are likely to play on my mind and disrupt my sleep for days. Tonight I'm going to think of that song and his smile it'll do me far more good I think.

covetingthepreciousthings · 04/09/2019 21:19

This is lovely, actually made me well up a bit, I have two sons & hope one day they will do similar for me. He sounds wonderful OP Thanks

Flamingo84 · 04/09/2019 21:19

That’s so lovely! What a considerate young man you’ve raised.
My DS is a year old, I can only hope he’ll grow up to be so thoughtful!

I do the same, I run through everything that happened at night and think of all the things I could/should have said. It’s very frustrating. Sometimes I write down key words on a bit of paper by my bedside as it sort of releases them from my brain and it doesn’t circle around for quite as long.

Hope memories of your dance party help you sleep tonight Flowers

SandyY2K · 04/09/2019 21:22

He's obviously been raised well and is empathetic.

I'm glad he cheered you up. What a lovely young man.

dollydaydream114 · 04/09/2019 21:24

He sounds like an absolute smasher Star

The nature of this forum understandably means that we often hear the worst things about teenagers, so it's so nice to hear about the times when they are actually lovely!

EmeraldShamrock · 04/09/2019 21:25

He sounds like a lovely caring chap, he must get it from his DM.
Try not to worry about things it won't change it but will wreck your sleep. I am glad you have happy thoughts now.
I saw one of Will Smiths inspirational speeches on YouTube it makes you think twice about worry Blush
Life is short enjoy it. Smile

cakeandchampagne · 04/09/2019 21:27

He’s lovely! Well done, mum!

langdale2016 · 04/09/2019 21:28

What a lovely thing for him to do!

bumblenbean · 04/09/2019 21:29

Show him this thread Smile

Whatsername7 · 04/09/2019 21:31

You know why your son is 'that' kid? The one who cheers people up when they are sad and makes them feel loved? You. That is why. Flowers

mrwalkensir · 04/09/2019 21:35

Smile good to see someone celebrating the loveliness of teenagers. My sons (and daughter) are a complete joy. I listen to them a lot, but when my psychobitch mother comes into view, they instinctively do their best to deflect her

Poochnewbie · 04/09/2019 21:37

This is just SO lovely. Throw some parenting tips my way so that I can raise my son to be like that please Smile

lightlypoached · 04/09/2019 21:38

Aaawwwww love him.

I have a Ds16 and he just gave me a huge thank you/sorry hug for me helping him in the early hours after his first vomiting-after-drinking-episode last night. Grin

Boys are lovely.

Cryalot2 · 04/09/2019 21:41

You have raised a great son ..Focus on that .

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 04/09/2019 21:42

What a lovely sensitive soul! I'm glad you had a dance together. Sleep tight x
