To tell everyone how much I love my son!

After a phone call this evening that really upset me, made me feel taken for granted, used and pretty sad, my 17yo DS put on some loud music and made me dance around the room with him throwing some shapes until I laughed at him and with him. He cheered me right up and seemed to know the right things to say. When I'm in bed later trying to sleep and all those feelings from that phone call come flooding back I'm going to thank my lucky stars I have him.

Teen boys are pretty amazing. Mine is the best giver of hugs and mum kisses on the cheek in the world. He also spends lots of time just being daft and making me laugh. Your lad sounds lovely, give him an extra hug tomorrow.

Dementornator · 04/09/2019 21:54

Aw that’s so sweet. Hope my boys are still like that in a few years

Shinysun · 04/09/2019 21:55

I just opened up mumsnet and read this thread after I thought to myself how lucky I am and how I love my son more than anything else... my 2 year old just woke up upset and shouted me. We had a little cuddle and I said night night, i love you. He said "night night mummy" in a little croaky tired toddler voice with his eyes screwed shut because he's half asleep. After a really shitty day (I work in child protection) he really brightened my day. Wine- cheers to us raising lovely boys/men!

What a lovely thread! You have raised a wonderful young man 😊

At the weekend, my 3 year old time me I'm his best friend. Earlier this evening, he said "I love you mummy" for the first time ever.

It's a good evening for warm fuzzy feelings! X

HappySonHappyMum · 04/09/2019 23:22

Thanks all! @EmeraldShamrock I'm going to look up that Will Smith speech as I realise that I let anxiety take me over in the dark of the night sometimes and I need to get past it. I said thanks to my DS for the dance before he went to bed tonight and gave him a squeeze Smile

Orangepancakes · 05/09/2019 08:48

He sounds lovely. There needs to be more people in the world like him Smile

Derektheelf · 05/09/2019 14:57

That's lovely! Sounds like you've done a smashing job of making a lovely young man. My 2.5yr old is testing at times, but snapped me in half the other day, when I was having a horror of a day. He held my hand and stroked my hair/ear/eyeballs and said mummy's sad, it's alright, I'm here sob
