Looking at my dog today and just thought nope I've never felt as loved by anything as this little creature!

IAmALazyArse · 26/08/2019 20:32

my cat
In your dreams, human servant😂

I agree OP!

YANBU. I know my dogs love me, but one in particular is devoted. He follows me everywhere - if I go to the bathroom he waits outside. He's very protective if strangers are in the house.

He's my bestest boy and I tell him this frequently Grin

NastyTurnip · 26/08/2019 20:47

Yes, I can't go to the bathroom without my companion either. If I shut him out he will sit outside the bathroom door and huff until I let him in Grin

He follows me everywhere. Even if he's sleeping. If I get up off the sofa and move he will sleepily wonder around the house next to me.

I love dogs!

Celebelly · 26/08/2019 20:52

There's no greeting quite like a dog's!

I agree OP. A dog's capacity to love and to forgive is unparalleled I think. My parents have recently adopted a Romanian rescue dog, who has obviously been subject to some pretty unpleasant treatment from humans, but she's so gentle and loving once she gets over her initial fear of strangers. It's amazing.

My own dog has never had a hard day in her life but she also has a tremendous capacity for love and on the odd occasion where I get annoyed at her for something, she gets so upset that she's annoyed me that she crawls over to nuzzle me and I feel terrible. Bless her. Off to go and snuggle with her!

Here's my beautiful girl

Whoops, try again...

A house isn't a home without a dog IMHO. I've had dogs all my life and they're my favourite animal.

My current dogs I found stray on a beach on holiday abroad ten years ago and I couldn't leave them, to be poisoned. I'd just lost my 17yo dog three months before and saving them gave me so much focus and healing.

My DP was a staunch cat lover when we met, never had a dog, he's now utterly smitten, as they are with him. Warms my cockles every day. 🥰

TBF, pets in general do bring so much love and joy. But yes, the love of your dog is unbeatable.

Moveoverplease · 26/08/2019 20:55

I completely agree. I've recently had surgery and mine doesn't leave my side. He has to be taken outside by dd so he will go to toilet. Even then he runs back to my bedroom door to be let back in. He's also been calmer and only playing next to me and not on my lap.

Catmar · 26/08/2019 20:56

We don't deserve dogs 😍

Kuponut · 26/08/2019 20:56

Current DDog has her moments - but I know in her heart of hearts she’d sell me for a tin of tuna. Pops over for half an hour’s cuddle on the sofa before going back to “her” sofa and lying upside down farting for hours.

DDog1... nothing in his world was as awesome as his hoomans and he would strut along on walks like nothing in the world could be better than being out sniffing things with his people. He died a couple of years ago and is still desperately missed.

NameChangedForTheDay · 26/08/2019 20:56

Oh OP, and your dog sounds like my boy dog. He's my shadow. Both endearing and annoying when you nearly trip over him, or can't have a shit in peace. 😅

cubed123 · 26/08/2019 20:58

I don’t have a dog but stayed at an airbnb which strangely had one - owner left him there for some reason. For those few days (and nights) that little doggy was just the cutest companion- followed me everywhere in the house, even if I went to the bedroom or kitchen to get anything he would just follow. And at night would just flop on the bed, all night. I was just a stranger so can’t imagine how much more loving a little doggy would be to their family...made me want to get one when I got back home.

weaselwords · 26/08/2019 21:00

Mine REALLY love me when I’m grating cheese...

Trixya · 26/08/2019 21:05

@Celebelly she is stunning!

Totally agree that dogs love you the most ever. My lovely boy is just the soppiest little dog I've ever met and I love it Grin he acts like it's the best day of his life when I just come home from work daily Grin dogs are the best!

ControversialFerret · 26/08/2019 21:10

Completely agree. I miss my old boy very much - we had to say goodbye to him last year. He was ancient and his favourite thing was to climb into bed with me, get under the duvet and curl up against my tummy. I miss waking up with him snuggled next to me.

Crimebustersofthesea · 26/08/2019 21:10

I love ddog to bits but he's a bit rubbish at reciprocating! I went away for a night, when I got home he didn't even come downstairs, completely ignored me when I went up to see him. Today, the cleaner came and he stood at the back door crying with excitement until she came in and he jumped all over her Angry Grin. I know he loves me really but he has a funny way of showing it Grin

tierraJ · 26/08/2019 21:23

I think my rescue cat loves me. She's currently sat next to me on the sofa & keeps giving me adoring looks.
She follows me everywhere.
She's an indoor cat by choice so I'm the focus of her life really. She really missed me when I went on holiday!

Our dog ,rescue at seven years old, loves, adores my daughter. She works five days a week (daughter not dog) so is with me and daughters partner most of the day. She is very affectionate with both of us. But, when daughter comes in? We are dead to her😊. Her person is here so we can both fuck off.

Dogs "person" is DD.

It's actually lovely to see. Dog has clearly had some trauma in her life (she's frightened of water, wet wipes, small people, going outside with anyone other than daughter, to name a few). But with daughter, she's a delight.

When we decided to adopt her I asked the rescue centre of she was motivated more by food or toys, because knowing that can help with training. The centre said she wasn't bothered by either.
Bullshit. Dog is a ganet, she will eat anything. Toys? Loves her ballio.

It just makes me think dog must have been very depressed when she was in kennels.

Dog is in her forever home now, the best thing we ever did, adopting this little girl

I love my dogs, I have 2 collies and both are loving in their own way. One wants to be a lap dog, it is a bit strange when I sit down and suddenly have a collie in my lap for cuddles.

Lifeover · 26/08/2019 21:30

A dog will love you no matter what, they are devoted, uncomplicated, always up for a play, kind and loyal! Humans can learn a lot
