Looking at my dog today and just thought nope I've never felt as loved by anything as this little creature!

Yes I'm fortunate to be my DDogs 'person' in our house. Even though he spends all day with DP!

He sits in the window until I get home if I just nip to the shops or whatever. If I'm upstairs and DP is downstairs he will without a doubt be upstairs. Even if I've shut him out of the room he'll sit upstairs outside the door rather than going down to DP.

It makes DP very jealous but I love it Grin

Having been neglected by my not dear mother, in favour of dogs. YABU. If you have no DC then fine. But putting dogs above DC causes lifelong damage and yes I speak from experience and bitterness.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 26/08/2019 21:44

My dog is my shadow, I am her world, she is my world, the joy she has brought to my life is immeasurable, I knew when I decided to get a dog I would love her to bits, but how much I love her is more than I could ever have imagined, it scares me actually as she is getting old now and I can’t even contemplate life without her.

'be the person your dog thinks you are'

ExCwmbranDweller · 26/08/2019 21:51

It sounds ridiculous but DDog1 has shown me what actual unconditional love is like which has been seriously lacking from any adult humans in my life. It feels like such a privilege to be loved by him, he follows me everywhere, gathers my foot in with his paws when we are snuggled on the sofa almost in a 'you aren't going anywhere' move. If we are out and about he will always put his body between me and anything he perceives as a threat. He's a Good Boy. DDog2 on the other hand, she loves me in her own way but she's a princess first and foremost and we are her slaves (I secretly think she's a cat in disguise).

NastyTurnip · 26/08/2019 21:54

Asta, I'm not talking about how much I love my DDog. I'm talking about how much my dog loves me!

I totally agree. My dogs are the centre of my universe as much as I am theirs. They bring such joy and sunshine to the world. Love them.

As for those who think their cats love them - you poor delusional human. You are but a mere servant 😂.

NastyTurnip · 26/08/2019 21:58

He's happy to see me every minute of the day, all day, every day. He wants to please me and visibly can't stand it when I'm annoyed with him and has to make it up as quickly as possible. No matter what, he just wants to be with me. I don't think you get that from any human!

I like my cats but I don't think they really give a fuck about me so long as their bowl is filled Grin

Whilst the weather has been so nice these past few days I've literally not seen them for dust.

I think my rescue cat loves me. She's currently sat next to me on the sofa & keeps giving me adoring looks.

Yup - cats are the best! She’s gorgeous x

My cat absolutely loves a fuss - he will spend ages sitting on my laptop enjoying a stroke, even when there’s a full bowl of food down. It’s very cute! Smile

Chocolate35 · 26/08/2019 22:10

I agree OP. My dog is my favourite child. He knows when I’m sad and curls up next to me, he licks my tears and every morning he greets me as if I’ve been out. He even checks on the kids every night (and occasionally jumps on them and gives them a little lick the naughty boy). He’s the most loving thing 😍

gedsxppl · 26/08/2019 22:12

@feelingsicknow nothing better than a Westie!

TheRealShatParp · 26/08/2019 22:15

Couldn’t agree more. My dog makes me feel so special.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 26/08/2019 22:19

A wagging tail never lies Smile. There are only about four humans I love as much as DDog!

Sarahlou63 · 26/08/2019 22:20

Real time - just said goodnight to the 4 'outdoor' dogs* (they live in the utility room) and turned the light off. Two minutes later they've all piled through the dog flap to bark at a moth farting. I do my best headmistress voice "Oi, bed!" and they all slink in, eyes saying 'sorry, mum' and settle in their beds. Love 'em!!!

  • another 3 dogs are in the hay barn and the last is sprawled across my bed!!
KatherineJaneway · 26/08/2019 22:21

Cats love you just as much, they just demand more 😹

ButtercupGirI · 26/08/2019 22:24

I feel the same op but my dog loves EVERYONE!

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 26/08/2019 22:33

The times I feel most happy and contented with life all involve my dogs - coming home to see their little faces, having them join me on the sofa for a cuddle, feeling their solid weight in my bed when I've watched a horror film just before going to bed and have freaked myself out, watching them get excited when they go out with me. They are my family as much as my partner, my dad, my siblings and their children and my mother in law.

It is true though that the more I see of humans, the more I prefer dogs.

flyingspaghettimonster · 26/08/2019 23:40

My dog loves me and wants to be with me all the time... but is a total dickhead to me as well. He might be half cat. His momma is a great pyr and she loves everyone, but in a fairly aloof way. She will take tummy rubs from literally anyone, nobody is particularly special.

DifficultSituation19 · 26/08/2019 23:55

It’s the purest love there is.

Cherish every moment. Throw that ball. Go for that walk. Put down your phone and have some quality cuddles on the sofa. Because when they’re gone you’d give everything you have to be able to do that one more time.
