To wonder how some people poo?

5 - 7 a day is my absolute minimum, about 10 is ideal. I eat loads of fruit and veg, legumes and dried fruit otherwise my digestive system will seize up.

Have I trained my digestive system to need this much? How do some people get away with eating so few?

Because we are all different maybe?

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 26/08/2019 16:03

I don't get what you're asking... You poo between 5-7 times a day?!

How do people get away with eating so few what?

Sparklesocks · 26/08/2019 16:04

Are you talking about or veg???

LaurieFairyCake · 26/08/2019 16:04

You evacuate your bowels 7-10 times a day ShockShockShock?

I'm 98% vegan, eat fuck tons of veg and go ONCE as soon as I've had my first coffee.

Sparklesocks · 26/08/2019 16:04

*poo or veg

Sparklingbrook · 26/08/2019 16:04

10 poos a day? I would be at the GPs.

MaMaMaMySharona · 26/08/2019 16:04

TEN POOS A DAY???

MadamDeMorency · 26/08/2019 16:04

Think she means portions of fruit and vegetables. Not poo🤔

WalkersAreNotTheOnlyCrisps · 26/08/2019 16:06

Thank God, I found myself seriously lacking then!

Sparklingbrook · 26/08/2019 16:06

I don't count how much F&V I eat but my bowels are fine ta very much.

SuperSara · 26/08/2019 16:10

I know what you're saying, OP, and yes, I do think you've trained yourself.

I eat around 5 portions of veg each day - possibly more quite often - and I find that when I'm away on business it's not as easy to come by high volumes of veg (I eat very little fruit as I don't like sweet foods).

I start to feel too 'full', for want of a better description, after a few days.

I know close friends who constantly eat very little fruit and veg and don't seem to notice.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 26/08/2019 16:13

I go a couple/three times a day. I don’t eat any fruit and hardly any veg.

WombatStewForTea · 26/08/2019 16:16

On a bad day I can easily go 10 times a day. The joys of living with inflammatory bowel disease Sad

teenagetantrums · 26/08/2019 16:21

I go once a day every morning. Can't be dealing with pooing anywhere else but home. I eat normal amount of veg. Do not like fruit.

SimonJT · 26/08/2019 16:21

My ex ate very little fruit and veg, he ate a lot of meat and carbs, I had to ban him from using the en-suite as it was like smelling an open slurry pit.

HappyParent2000 · 26/08/2019 16:22

Partner is 4-6 times a day, me one or two at most.

EssentialHummus · 26/08/2019 16:24

I go once a day every morning. Can't be dealing with pooing anywhere else but home.

Same here. And I now use something like a squatty potty to raise my knees above my hips, following a really detailed Guardian article about the subject. I now have much more effective poos.*

*Sorry, tmi - but you did ask!

MoaningMinnie1 · 26/08/2019 16:25

I don't eat that much fruit and veg each day but generally eat some. I poo most days but not every day. Quite healthy.

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 26/08/2019 16:25

Oh I use a step to raise my feet too! It makes a difference. Grin

LakieLady · 26/08/2019 16:27

1-3 times a day for me, depending on what I've been eating and drinking. I go more when it's hot, which I guess may be because I'm drinking more. Drinking a lot of water, or beer, makes me go more.

ByStarlight · 26/08/2019 16:32

My husband goes once a day every morning like clockwork. Always has done as part of his ‘routine’. He eats meat and a reasonable amount (3-5 portions) of fruit and veg a day.

I’m vegetarian and eat a lot of fruit and veg (7-10 portions a day). But I only usually poo once every 3 days on average. (Not at any particular time of day either....whenever my body is ready). This is my natural rhythm that I’ve had since childhood (in my forties now).

So I think it’s more about your own body’s metabolism and digestive processing rhythms than necessarily the amount of f & v you eat.

kmc1111 · 26/08/2019 16:33

I think the answer is they don’t poo enough but they think it’s normal. I’m always amazed by how little fibre some people eat, and how their bodies are so unused to it that even small amounts can send them running to the bathroom.

Mabelface · 26/08/2019 16:35

I used to go around 5-6 times a day until I massively reduced my dairy intake. I miss cheese.

MadamDeMorency · 26/08/2019 16:35

@LaurieFairyCake now we all know that you can’t be 98% vegan, either you are or you aren’t, MN rules. If you step on an ant on the way to work you are no longer vegan, and have to wait at least a year to reapply for vegan status
