I really hope things go better today on this forum!
The debate on Grammar is over and we can try and not get into a heated discussion!

I have noticed why no one has anwered my bit about why are WE not helping the posties by fighting the top dog there must be something we can do?

If we helped them then the strikes could stop, the big bos is getting huge bonus' and its not fair.

I am sorry that yesterday I used too many exclamation marks its habit I was not trying to sound like I was shouting.

I am a trained counsellor but I have recently had twin girls on top of my 2 older boys so I have had to take a break and I am now working part time cleaning for a school I have often wanted to strike beacuse of the appalling way we have been treated but we have not done it so far so I can see where the hell the posties are coming from but we are being affected and I think that is what laura is saying!

She is not going to change her mind beacuse its her opinion but I think she has realised why the strikes are taking place and thats what she wanted to do, she wanted to learn!

Peachy · 05/08/2007 11:56

tacographs have nbeen around for ages, well they were completely established when i worked for a hauliers and that was a decade ago the rest I can check on (hours etc) but only when Dh who is a transport controller (eg plans routes and manages drivers legal stuff amongst other things) wakes up, he knows it as much as anyone as its what he lives by.

'I have noticed why no one has anwered my bit about why are WE not helping the posties by fighting the top dog there must be something we can do?
'

Honestly? please dont think ill of me but my Dh works for TNT (well an offshoot) so I am not going to bite the hand that feeds us, frankly. Shallow? probably. revile me at will.

still glad it's provided hours of entertainment to lillaura123

Peachy · 05/08/2007 12:48

well someone did say their friend had learned about the causes of the strike being more than just pay related so maybe there is a positive outcome of this thread

UCM · 05/08/2007 23:51

I have been thinking about this all day.

Well?

UCM · 06/08/2007 00:11

I forgot to add that the tatoos on your belly whilst pregnant moved well. They really looked good

I hope you are ok.

lillaura123 · 06/08/2007 09:16

UCM, maybe you should start a thread on bullying, and tell us all how you were picked on at school, which then led, later on in life, to you becoming an online bully, and using anything to have a go at someone. From what I have read, Laura has made it pretty clear that she isn't very knowledgeable about the strike. And all you have done is jumped on her every time she typed. This thread was practically inactive, and back you come telling everyone how you've been thinking about it all day THEN you come back AGAIN after viewing Laura's profile and take the piss out of 'tattoos'. It's people like you that probably don't have an original thought and just jump on the bandwagon that you feel is right. I feel for you, and even more so, I feel for your children, what kind of lesson are you going to teach them?? Its better to do right than be right sometimes. And from what I see Laura's heart was in the right place, you were more concerned with being a bitch.

expatinscotland · 06/08/2007 09:45

No, Lora, UCM was more concerned with the rights of workers than a few minor inconveniences if you read the posts.

Saturn74 · 06/08/2007 09:54

"THEN you come back AGAIN after viewing Laura's profile and take the piss out of 'tattoos'."

I think UCM was being sincere.

There is nothing unpleasant in her last post.

"I forgot to add that the tatoos on your belly whilst pregnant moved well. They really looked good

I hope you are ok."

I think you have misinterpreted her intentions, Lorayn.

And lillaura resurrected this thread herself, yesterday morning.

TnOgu · 06/08/2007 09:58

Expat - your posts from Saturday night at 23.30 and 23.38, and Sunday morning at 00.05, say everything I would love to have been able to articulate.

As always, I agree with everything you posted.

expatinscotland · 06/08/2007 09:59

I can't honestly believe for one second that there's no sense of collective spirit left here anymore, TnOgu, and judging from the support I've seen for these workers, it's alive and well, thankfully!

littlelapininhercar · 06/08/2007 10:02

I nearly had a tattoo of a shark on my tummy when I was younger - I'm so glad I didn't, it would have been a blue whale while I was pregnant, and now a rather baggy dolphin .

I love the idea of fake tattoos on a pregnant tummy (sorry, I hate the word belly). If we have another one, I might get "CHARDONNAY" across the bump and freak all my family out

tearsndtantrums · 06/08/2007 10:06

im in 2 minds about the strikes. i know that the workers arent happy about certain things and that its more than just pay and i agree they need to make theirselves be heard.

but for purely selfish reasons i dont like it. peoples giros arent turning up and my friends are trying to tap me for money. HELLO IM WAITING TO. so i would like less of that as i feel awful when i say i cant. but that is a selfish reason.

we arent to bad as my partner works so weve got by when our tax credits have been late. but i can understand the frustration if your means of money is by giro and they dont arrive but then i suppose people can always open bank accounts.

lol i think im on the fence for this one as i can see it from both sides

Oblomov · 06/08/2007 10:06

I was hovering on the thread. I didn't think any of UCM's comments were bullying at all.
But I do think its a bit rough, clicking on someone's profile and then making a comment about their profile details. I don't think thats acceptable.

littlelapininhercar · 06/08/2007 10:10

I thought UCM's tattoo comments were in response to previous remarks by lillaura, but I see they weren't... that is rather catty UCM, and not like you. Sticking a on the end doesn't make it OK.

But I didn't think your other on-topic posts were bullying. Yet again that word gets unnecessarily bandied around

Oblomov · 06/08/2007 10:16

Littlelapin, I agree. I hate it when people bound that word around. It demeans bullying. When bullying, is actually taking place,it is extremely serious. I hate it when people discredit a word.

littlelapininhercar · 06/08/2007 10:17

Exactly. "Oh you've disagreed with me vehemently, boo hoo, you bully" - you have no idea what bullying is, if you think that is it.

Oblomov · 06/08/2007 10:20

I disagree with you.
Bully

Not good.
People shouldn't use words they don't know the meaning of

lillaura123 · 06/08/2007 10:22

im sorry maybe you didnt read far enough bk when i didnt agree with some peoples opinions and there was a whole lot of slagging off my grammer, and the comment on ignorance breeds ignorance - and how thick i am because i cant spell - plus more - what would you discribe that as then??

OP posts:
filchthemildmanneredjanitor · 06/08/2007 10:23

god i can't believe this is still going on!!!

there is a big difference between bullying and teasing someone on a thread because they don't know what they are talking about !
if we followed laura around the board making nasty comments and catted her with nasty emails etc etc that would be bullying. having a go at someone on one thread beause they are talking crap and talking about it in an unintelligible manner isn't.

lillaura123 · 06/08/2007 10:26

i dont find someone calling me thick over and over and over agian by more than one person just teasing . had it been once by one person fine , but its bloody childish to team together - oh by the way try going through that at school for 11 years then tell me i dont know what bullying is

OP posts:
tjacksonpfc · 06/08/2007 10:26

lillaura123 there are quite a few people on here that are directly affected by these strikes through having dps that work for the royal mail and if you had read other posts about it you would see why people are so upset i think your firend needs to finds something more important to do than worry about wether her credit card statment is a bit late if she supported the posties it would be sorted much quicker and a lot of people would be able to sleep better at night not worrying about how they will survive when these cuts come in and yes my dp is a postie so i am one of them
