What does everyone think of julianna-rose for a girl. Everyone seems to hate it!

I just don’t like double barrelled names. They’re chavvy and you’d be lucky to get people to call her by that first name without shortening it, let alone adding an unnecessary extra first name.

NavyBlueHue · 12/08/2019 22:13

Julianna is pretty. Anything double barrelled makes me wince. Realistically she’ll be called Julie.

ComtesseDeSpair · 12/08/2019 22:13

Both perfectly nice names. But most people - her likely included - will ultimately drop the Rose because the full name is a bit of a mouthful, so you may as well just go with Julianna on its own.

Courtney555 · 12/08/2019 22:14

I don't hate it. Julianna is prettier on it's own I think.

Also it seems every young girl now has a middle name of Grace, Rose or May. Not particularly a criticism because clearly a lot of people like it, but it's very generic imho.

cookie1991 · 12/08/2019 22:14

Both my daughters have double barrelled names. And both get called my both names. No one ever shortens it.

SoftBlocks · 12/08/2019 22:15

I like Julianna but don’t like Rose.

Thehop · 12/08/2019 22:15

It’s because it’s double barrelled, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter.....you go with what you love.

MamaFlintstone · 12/08/2019 22:15

If you’re not planning on shortening it, it’s a bit of a mouthful. I like Julianna on its own though.

cookie1991 · 12/08/2019 22:16

I think it might just be julianna then. I really do like the name

Anyone got any ideas on any j names for a girl?

OP posts:
PaintingOwls · 12/08/2019 22:21

Julie?

PaintingOwls · 12/08/2019 22:21

Juliet obviously Grin

crispysausagerolls · 12/08/2019 22:22

I love Josephine! Just never allowed to use it because DH hates female names derived from male names, even though that ruled out 80% of names (all my favourites 😫)

Minai · 12/08/2019 22:23

I like Julianna but Julianna-Rose feels like a bit of a mouthful like it has too many syllables to me. I would have Rose as a middle name if it was me.

cookie1991 · 12/08/2019 22:23

I love juilet. Also like josephine x

I think Julianna Rose is a beautiful name BUT insisting on Julianna-Rose, never being shortened to just Julianna seems really OTT. I went to school with a girl with a similar name (let’s say Anastasia-Maria) and her name was never said by our teachers and other parents without a huge eye roll preceding it. The child herself was very quiet and unassuming but her mother was very pushy and the big fussy name didn’t quite go with her daughter’s personality. Anastasia was a big enough name to live up to, it didn’t need Maria tagged on. I think the adults just saw it as a bit ridiculous.

I know a Julianna and everyone says what a beautiful name she has. I doubt any one has a problem with Juliana or Rose, it’s the putting the two together all the time that probably grates on people.

NameChange30 · 12/08/2019 22:27

It's too many syllables. 5. And really long to spell. I am not a fan of double-barrelled first names, but they can work well if the names are short.

Could you tell us DC1's name?

RoseMartha · 12/08/2019 22:28

I like it but would drop the hyphen

NoSauce · 12/08/2019 22:29

Prefer Juliet to Julianna which I find a bit frilly. Rose is ok a middle name but very predictable.

AngeloMysterioso · 12/08/2019 22:31

Isn’t there a whole baby names topic for this??

Davros · 12/08/2019 22:34

I know a Julianna and she's called Yarna

toomuchfaster · 12/08/2019 22:35

What about Julie-Anna? With Rose as a middle name.

cookie1991 · 12/08/2019 22:35

Thank u all. Think im just gonna go for just julianna not double barrelled x

Julianna = horrid and fussy
Rose = stuffy
Julianna-Rose = overly complicated, fussy and stuffy

But then everyone pulls this face when I tell them my DDs' names Hmm so who am I to judge. If you like it, go for it, but accept that she'll never be called it because its a mouthful!
