holly and phil-weird holiday dynamic

hellosally · 03/08/2019 11:25

just reading online today about the "hilarious" time Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby are having on holiday together with respective families in tow. is it just me or is this "friendship" very strange? always getting drunk together, she is 20 odd years younger than him and probably parading around looking amazing in a bikini-I cant believe this is purely platonic and don't get how their families put up with it -or am I just being miserable?(obviously bored today and over-invested I know)

OP posts:

My best friend is a man. He's 12 years older than me. I don't really get the problem.

Ibizama · 03/08/2019 11:28

Yeah, I always thought this OP

MardyMavis · 03/08/2019 11:29

Can't stand Phil but fair play to him and of corse there's nothing going on how ridiculous, what's wrong with being friends it doesn't matter about age she's not 18 she's nearly 40 ffs.

TheFlis12345 · 03/08/2019 11:30

You don’t believe a man and a woman can just be friends if the woman is hot? I feel sad for you (my best friend is also male).

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 03/08/2019 11:31

‘parading around’ in a bikini oppose to just wearing a bikini. I think the post says more about your insecurities and opinion of women than their friendship.

Farmerswifey12 · 03/08/2019 11:32

You're being miserable!

MonChatEstMagnifique · 03/08/2019 11:35

‘parading around’ in a bikini oppose to just wearing a bikini

Grin It sounds like a daily mail article. No one is ever just wearing a bikini, they're always 'parading their figure' or ''flaunting their post baby body'...

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 03/08/2019 11:37

Call me cynical but I think this a 'friendship' of mutual convenience - looks good on social media and allows them to promote their brand. Iirc Holly's husband is a producer for itv, a fact that I doubt PS is unaware of. They both bring something to the table that the other needs.
I'd be very surprised if they are still hanging out together once they are retired!

username678889 · 03/08/2019 12:03

I agree I also think it's a relation of convenience , PR stunt . I mean why are the pics in the newspapers? I'm sure they are good friends but to share a family holiday . Holly will probably go on her real family holiday next week .

Skittlenommer · 03/08/2019 12:05

I can’t stand her voice!!

Cohle · 03/08/2019 12:09

I think it has a lot more to do with PR that it does with him being attracted to her. I mean, you're talking about it.

"parading around looking amazing in a bikini" - no she's just wearing a bikini. Do you think she should have to wear a burkini because you're envious of her appearance?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 03/08/2019 12:11

I don’t think PS has much interest in women in bikinis.

Celebelly · 03/08/2019 12:12

I think if it wasn't platonic, a family holiday together would be the last thing you did!

Also I doubt she's parading around. She's probably just walking, like people do.

fancynancyclancy · 03/08/2019 12:14

Agree with IWannaSeeHowItEnds & other posters. It’s all PR rubbish, they are best friends, super relatable, blah blah but people who watch TM clearly buy into it.

fancynancyclancy · 03/08/2019 12:16

Plus wasn’t there some stories saying PS was mean so PR probably in overdrive now.

areyoubeingserviced · 03/08/2019 12:18

Agree with all who say that it is a ‘friendship ‘ of mutual convenience,
All their fake banter irritates me.
However, because they are both off on holiday , I can actually watch This Morning
I much prefer Eamon and Ruth

small2018 · 03/08/2019 12:24

I think it's all about the brand, portraying how close they are and how well they get on by going on holiday together.

maddy68 · 03/08/2019 12:27

Perfectly normal friendship and anyone who can't understand that is a bit odd IMHO

AuntieMarys · 03/08/2019 12:29

You sound ridiculous.

BrendasUmbrella · 03/08/2019 12:30

I think it's all about the brand, portraying how close they are and how well they get on by going on holiday together.

This. They're probably not that close, they've just become a duo brand, and it's paying well.

Butchyrestingface · 03/08/2019 12:31

You are being very strange, OP. How about a nice afternoon lap?

PapaShango · 03/08/2019 12:31

I also think it’s all about the brand. The obviously get on but all the showy stuff is just for publicity.

I do think it’s weird that you don’t think male and females can’t be friends. I was a pa many years ago to a man 15 years older than me. It was only a temp job while I was at uni so I wasn't there long. We just hit it off and stayed in touch. 20 odd years later, he and his wife are one of mine and dh’s closest friends. We do loads together as couples and have been on holiday together with our families. Not weird at all.

BlueCornsihPixie · 03/08/2019 12:32

They are a presenting duo. Presenting duos have to be friends in the public eye. It's their brand. Plus they spend a lot of time together so they probably do get on well.

No one writes this shite about and and Dec, Dec parading round in his swim trunks in front of Dec.

NotSorry · 03/08/2019 12:33

I don't think the age difference is weird but why on earth would you go on holiday with a work colleague?

Actionhasmagic · 03/08/2019 12:33

Yabu - I have friends of all ages
