To eat chocolate cake and custard for breakfast?

Normally it wouldn't cross my mind but I'm in the grip of a horrible cold, I'm knackered and the food delivery that was meant to come yesterday was cancelled by the shop so there's not much in the house unless I want to cook.

My best friend dropped off a home made chocolate cake last night and it's looking at me. Wibu?

(This is lighthearted, obviously!)

Obesity... epidemic... crisis... breaking point... calories... role model... diabetes... uumph..

Can't type clearly, your post made me dive into my cake tin.Grin

StayAChild · 02/08/2019 10:54

I'm imagining the custard melting the chocolate......
Definitely YANBU, seeing as you have no healthy food in. Pretend it's chicken soup. Hope you soon feel better.

BeBesideTheSea · 02/08/2019 10:54

Think of it this way ... how is it any different to coco pops with milk? Or pancakes with chocolate spread?

QuestionableMouse · 02/08/2019 10:55

Ooh what kind?

We had a fantastic pizza shop but domino's bought the premises and took it over. I dream about their BBQ chicken sometimes.

YANBU, Custard is life.

QuestionableMouse · 02/08/2019 10:57

I've found my people.

I was really craving pancakes and maple syrup but I just can't be arsed to stand and cook them. Didn't finish work until an ungodly hour last night then slept like crap because of this cold.

If my online shop turns up today I do have a healthy lunch and tea planned so it balances out?

It's ambrosia mini pots (which I keep in for my nephews) which is really nice.

YABU for eating cake with custard. Just.... why?!

Robs20 · 02/08/2019 11:19

Do it! I’ve just had some red velvet cake for breakfast. Told myself life is too short and I will go and do a healthy food shop later today!

xsamix86 · 02/08/2019 11:24

Do it.... and send me some!!!

Honestly, once in a while won't hurt. We love a sneaky 'dessert for dinner' day at the local dessert place. I don't usually eat breakfast at home, but you can guarantee when I go on Mat Leave in a few weeks this will happen at least twice Smile

PixieLumos · 02/08/2019 11:26

Yesss go for it! Everyone knows calories don’t count when you’ve got a nasty cold Grin

BogglesGoggles · 02/08/2019 11:26

Breakfast of champions!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 02/08/2019 11:27

What's the AIBU? Why are you even asking? This is a traditional everyday Uzkyrgikistani breakfast - it's a very good thing for us to broaden our diets and cultural understanding at the same time.

*This country may not actually exist, but I won't tell if you don't Grin

MeetMeInMontauk · 02/08/2019 11:27

Woah, hold the phone. Have you got the 'blocked-nose, can't-taste' type of cold OP? If so, YAB massively U to waste perfectly good dessert items that you won't be getting the benefits of.

StrumpersPlunkett · 02/08/2019 11:29

Omg do it.
Life is too short.

Meangirls36 · 02/08/2019 11:52

Chocolate cake and coffee is de riguer for me I was waiting for a taxi and got a massive chocolate slice to go lasted me three days or those chocolate waffles that you put in the toaster or croissants with too much butter .

ScrommidgeClaryAndSpunt · 02/08/2019 11:56

So long as it's chocolate custard, then absolutely.

Isthisafreename · 02/08/2019 11:57

@Pepperwand - YABU for eating cake with custard. Just.... why?!

That's exactly what I was going to say. Ice-cream, yes. Cream at a push. But custard?

The only explanation that makes sense is your cold has interfered with your ability to think rationally.

RitaMills · 02/08/2019 11:59

YABU to have custard with chocolate cake.... only cold ice cream or cream with hot chocolate cake is acceptable. Grin

RainOrSun · 02/08/2019 11:59

Cake is fine. The Italians do, if the hotel breakfasts I've had there are anything to go by.
Custard should be condemned, and binned without opening.

longwayoff · 02/08/2019 12:03

Move up, make way for me, put kettle on, I'm coming CakeCakeCake. Save me some custard too.

AdaColeman · 02/08/2019 12:05

Cake Cake Cake Sounds like a good balanced meal to me, with a range of food groups. I had raspberry panna cotta.

transformandriseup · 02/08/2019 12:07

Do it!!!!!!
