We’ve got a big splash pad in the garden and my 18 month old is running about naked. My 6 year old has stripped and is happily starkers - that’s ok, right?

I’ve lost all perspective!

I think it's fine and I would do the same.

Pinktinker · 22/07/2019 18:51

Depends how private your garden is really. If we’re talking front garden where the whole street can see then yeah, I wouldn’t be very comfortable with that. I don’t see why they can’t at least have a nappy/undies on personally...

Sunburntnoseandears · 22/07/2019 18:51

Unless your garden is overlooked by anyone imo...
No tan lines!

Does your garden open out on to the high street or something? (I'm struggling into imagine why this wouldn't be fine)

BeanBag7 · 22/07/2019 18:52

No problem at all in your own garden.

Merryoldgoat · 22/07/2019 18:53

Overlooked by two neighbours - one is away and the others are a very nice retired couple.

NOT the front garden!

Fine in your own garden.

WorraLiberty · 22/07/2019 18:54

How very daring of you Stompythedinosaur Grin Grin

Merryoldgoat · 22/07/2019 18:54

@arethereanyleftatall

Well - I used to run about naked at 6/7 in the hot but MN has made me doubt myself at various points.

TinyMystery · 22/07/2019 18:54

Literally have no idea why this would be a problem anywhere unless it’s midday and they aren’t wearing any suncream.

Merryoldgoat · 22/07/2019 18:55

I am fully clothed.

Great - thanks everyone Smile

i would insist on a hat :)

TheTrollFairy · 22/07/2019 18:57

Yeah, dd does this all the time.
I’m not sure why you would question it? It’s similar to them running about the house with no clothes on

WorraLiberty · 22/07/2019 18:57

My DC used to prefer to wear t.shirts when splashing around in the paddling pool/running round the garden, as the wet material kept them cooler.

arethereanyleftatall · 22/07/2019 18:59

Never let mn doubt yourself op, there is many a poster who's completely bonkers.

alwaysalso · 22/07/2019 19:02

We're potty training, DD has spent much of today naked 😁

Malyshek · 22/07/2019 19:02

Agree, this is totally fine. They're children in your own garden. In Finland everybody's naked in sauna and nobody cares Grin

managedmis · 22/07/2019 19:03

It'll be reet

Ivestoppedreadingthenews · 22/07/2019 19:04

Totally normal! Don’t let mumsnet make you paranoid. Running around insisting a small child wear clothes in their own garden is more likely to cause them issues than letting them do what’s natural. Most children reach an age when they naturally want to cover up, before that point it’s fine and innocent.

MrsGrindah · 22/07/2019 19:09

I suggested this today at work but nobody would join me

Singlenotsingle · 22/07/2019 19:10

Sometimes I've got 2 three year olds, and a six yo, all naked as a jaybird, splashing around in the paddling pool in my back garden. Can't see the problem.

NeverGotMyPuppy · 22/07/2019 19:10

@arethereanyleftatall how bloody true!!

MoominKitty · 22/07/2019 19:10

I lived ether naked or in my knickers during summer in the garden before pubity ruined it. Totally fine try not to worry

GMtoBe · 22/07/2019 19:12

Definitely OK. My 21 month old DD has spent most of the last couple of days completely naked when we're in the house/garden. She's more comfortable that way!
