Meanwhile in real life, shock = mildly surprised. Horrified = mildly dischuffed.

Also I have been interneting for about 15 years. I have sometimes smiled at posts or threads. Occasionally gone to myself 'oh that's funny' or even a very slight childish snigger.

Never once have I pmsl, snorted so hard coffee came down my nose or spat my tea over the keyboard.

I think I am either a joyless, miserable old git. Or some people, probably those that are shocked and horrified, overreact. Or they tell lies.

I am stunned and mortified at your assumption that MN users can be breathtakingly furious over being embarrassed and disgusted over trivialities.
They are probably fuming because they have been put on hold while phoning 101 for advice on changing locks and LTB, however, they will calm down once they have sought their free 30 mins advice at the solicitors and contacted SS.
