I'm new here, only joined last year. Just been reading through some MN classics, there are a few threads from over 10 years ago but it got me thinking - what was the first thread!? Grin

Ooh that's an interesting question, thinking about it .
Could have been anything couldn't it :)

NinjaInFluffyPJs · 13/07/2019 14:02

@MNHQ could have an answer😁
I am interested too!

jonesyyy · 13/07/2019 14:04

On the website, if you go to 'other subjects' and go to the first page there are threads from March 2001, I find it quite fascinating looking back, and I have been here a while myself but not 2001.

jonesyyy · 13/07/2019 14:13

@CabbagesRoses oooh thanks, I'll have a look Smile

To wonder what the first ever MN thread was!?
CabbagesRoses · 13/07/2019 14:17

Yes! How things have changed! I love looking back on them occasionally, they are like little time capsules!

CabbagesRoses · 13/07/2019 14:18

There's a big thread on other subjects as 9/11 was happening which is like watching history unfold.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2019 14:19

Wow! Nt sure I want to read that now but I definitely do at some point

jonesyyy · 13/07/2019 14:20

@CabbagesRoses wow can you link?

OP posts:
CabbagesRoses · 13/07/2019 14:25

It's very sad but a real snapshot of history

jonesyyy · 13/07/2019 14:25

@CabbagesRoses thank you. That'll be sad to read through Sad

A friend lost his son in 9/11 I still cry every time I read/watch anything about it.

This one is quite sweet

CraicMammy · 13/07/2019 14:30

TAAT!! 😜

CabbagesRoses · 13/07/2019 14:31

I'm very sorry to hear that thehop, I remember it so clearly, still can't believe it really

LeatherBottle · 13/07/2019 14:34

The archives don’t go back to the first posts though, as the site started in 2000. I think those first posts may be lost, they certainly didn’t end up archived (and some threads start part way through as clearly only posts from a certain date onwards were kept)

jonesyyy · 13/07/2019 14:37

@LeatherBottle aw really Sad

MillicentMartha · 13/07/2019 15:03

Just had a nosy back in 2001. Someone was asking where to find the Fleetwood Mac song, Rhiannon. A poster helpfully suggested trying ask.co.uk. Grin This must have been before Google was the search engine of choice. Bless!

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2019 15:20

I guess there was still threads about how mn wasn't what it used to be in the good old days :)

SoupDragon · 13/07/2019 15:21

I know! It was about dummies I believe and involved Justine, Carrie and Rachel answering themselves with sock puppet accounts 😂

CabbagesRoses · 13/07/2019 15:22

I just find it hard to get my head around the fact that 2000, when Mumsnet began is now nearly 20 years ago (!) and the world has changed so much since then, especially 'the internet of things'.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2019 15:23

I know cabbages. And I've been here since 2006, so only a few years after it started but such a long time ago now.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2019 16:49

I know there are some old timera on here but anyone who remembers the first few threads?
