To think I have very clever cat?

I went out last night in just my socks, to water the hanging baskets, came In with dirty, wet sock so left them by the front door to save me going down stairs (we live on three floors) I've just gone downstairs and my cat has carried one of my socks and put it by the washing machine.

Aibu to think I have the cleverest cat in the world?

Seriously??

fantasmasgoria1 · 11/07/2019 07:01

Yes I reckon so! Although I reckon most cats are very intelligent! All the cats I have ever had were and my kitten is showing signs of being really clever too! She is pawsome!

Piglet89 · 11/07/2019 07:03

My cat tries to “stalk” wood pigeons in the garden (which are practically the same size as she is) by hunkering down in “Hunt” position and miaowing very loudly at them. They fly away.

“Yeah, they can hear you, love”.

She’s not the brightest.

Yours seems like the late Professor Sir Stephen Hawking in comparison.

Piglet89 · 11/07/2019 07:04

That said, my husband and I just run around after her, pandering to her every whim, so she’s not that thick....

RedSheep73 · 11/07/2019 07:05

However clever cats may be, helpfulness isn't really in their nature!

PersonaNonGarter · 11/07/2019 07:07

You have a clever cat! She did it as a gift.

adaline · 11/07/2019 07:07

My theory is that cats are remarkably clever, they're just lazy as fuck so they get humans to do everything for them 😂

rslsys · 11/07/2019 07:25

Surely if she was really bright, she would have taken the pair? Wink

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 11/07/2019 07:25

Love it!

RonnieScotts · 11/07/2019 07:26

Now a really clever cat would've watered the hanging baskets for you Wink

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 11/07/2019 07:33

That's a great start. You just need to train her to pop on a full load and add some powder Grin

Galaxy88 · 11/07/2019 07:36

If it was the pair, then yes, very clever! Maybe your cat can help mine? Hes been crying at the back patio doors to be let in (hes got a cat flap right next to it) took him a while to twig on 🤔

Sunnysidegold · 11/07/2019 07:39

I was hoping you'd say it had brought your shoes to the door 😆. Cats are awesome.

Tashface · 11/07/2019 07:44

Did you just have socks on, nothing else? Shock Grin

DustyMaiden · 11/07/2019 07:46

As a child we went on holiday and our neighbors were caring for our cat, we couldn’t find him when we left and he had accidentally been locked in the house.

When we returned he had turned the tap on. Got dried food from the cupboard and ripped it open. Most amazing he had used the toilet, sadly didn’t flush.

Myfoolishboatisleaning · 11/07/2019 07:48

Yes, she is very clever. I woke in the middle of the night and my cat was smiling at me. (Not her eyes, her actual mouth) so you have the cleverest cat and I have the happiest.

TreacherousPissFlap · 11/07/2019 07:49

I thought that too tash , very odd attire for watering the hanging baskets Grin

CigarsofthePharoahs · 11/07/2019 07:53

My cat is so clever she pretends to be thick so we do everything for her and she doesn't end up as a test subject in a lab as she's so clever.
Grin

dun1urkin · 11/07/2019 07:55

Of course you do. We all have the cleverest, funniest, most beautiful cats in the world Grin

Dutypaid · 11/07/2019 07:57

We all have clever cats ;) mine brings her toys in from the garden.

UnicornPug · 11/07/2019 07:59

My cat won’t wear a collar and when we put one on her, she takes it off. No idea where. Unfortunately she needs one because she needs the magnet to get through the cat flap. After getting through 3 spare collars and tags in as many days, I ran out and she went out, collarless.
Imagine my surprise when I found her in the house later. I assumed she’d forced the cat flap, but later that week I found her in the house again when we’d all been out (she was out when we left as had to turf her out of the car) and the door from the cat flap to the rest of the house was shut.
I’m pretty sure she’s had keys cut so she can come and go at will. Now that’s clever.

BikeRunSki · 11/07/2019 08:27

I have a very stupid cat. She is still trying to master the cat flap, it’s been 4 years.

catwithnohat · 11/07/2019 08:49

Our cats stand at a door which is slightly ajar and yowl til one of us comes and opens it wider so they can sashay out.

Its a source of amazement to me that they've not worked out how to do it themselves but I'm equally suspicious that they have us pegged as soft touches Grin

AnnaMagnani · 11/07/2019 09:01

@Piglet89 my cat tries to catch pigeons every morning by standing on the porch roof and chattering her teeth very loudly.

When she was very little she could catch flies. Since then, nothing.

We think she's faulty and tell her we'll take her back to the cat shop and swap her for a real one but then she bamboozles us with her silkiness.

Her sister had all the brains in that family but sadly got killed on the road. Survivor is too stupid to get near the road - her territory consists of the patio, only when it's sunny and ideally only when she can sit next to Daddy Hmm

madeyemoodysmum · 11/07/2019 09:04

No doubt they are very clever I just find it surprising a cat would do something useful we are there slaves after all
