"Hi, have u still got the pc? thanx rob"

I know I am offering it for free but when I'm going to get 50 replies do you REALLY think that a nice polite note isn't going to make me favour you?

He had a big one, yeah. Not as wide as my ex bf, though. I made sure he knew that, too.

That's what he gets for going all Napoleon and calling me an 'ignorant bitch' and various other horrible things he did.

Fucker.

I once put something - can't remember what by the back door next to the Dyson (brand new) ready to go and someone looked at it and said 'ooh can I have that too?'

'Erm no, it's brand new'

'oh well can I have your old one then'

'no, it's dead'.

'Oh'

'But you did just get this free (whatever the hell it was).'

's'pose.

Expat - do you have anger issues tonight?

expatinscotland · 25/07/2007 21:34

I'm too drunk for that.

I just find it funny.

expatinscotland · 25/07/2007 21:36

Most of the time, I find it more fun to take the piss out of someone/thing rather than get angry. The fun usually lies in that it rankles the recipient far more than my anger would .

People who want to buy can work well, though!

When I sold my car, it was to this bloke newly arrived from India. Well, I was selling up EVERYTHING b/c I was coming here to backpack and this bloke got in my flat and luckily he brought a couple hundred dollars more cuz he had that car loaded with gear when he drove away!

Cool! Saved me tons of hassle.

lol at this thread

Can you not get Freecycle for the Better Sorts?

whomovedmychocolate · 25/07/2007 21:38

Expat - I freecycled a whole garage full of crap last year because it was cheaper than hiring several skips. I only listed half of it and said it was a 'buy one get one free' offer when people turned up.

People will drag away all sorts of shit when it's free. Old paint, bits of wood - even things that don't work. I even got someone to haul away the garage door (I was converting it into a flat).

whomovedmychocolate · 25/07/2007 21:40

Of course, just check out their email address @waitrose.com - generally good sorts, @horndog.hotmail.com (wonder if someone else wants it!?

expatinscotland · 25/07/2007 21:41

Oh, you missed my post about things that don't work!

When I left Denver and was living in the same flat where I flogged all that stuff to my car buyer, the property manager was married to this Mexican bloke who was a spark.

I told her I had some small appliances that didn't work - probably stuff like the fuse was blown but I couldn't be arsed as I was leaving.

She said, 'Oh, could you please let Luis (her husband) have it?'

Turns out, this guy would rescue stuff from skips and fix them throughout the year. Once a year, they'd hire a white van, go to Mexico and flog hte lot over a couple of days.

Usually made about $2000+ for their efforts.

Not bad!

whomovedmychocolate · 25/07/2007 21:42

I think Luis may have been the chap who hauled away 21 separate electrical items from my garage then

expatinscotland · 25/07/2007 21:45

Probably! I mean, this guy would go dumpster diving and find stuff that was perfectly good, someone just couldn't be bothered to take it somewhere to give it away.

I wound up unable to flog my microwave so I gave them that as a sort of farewell. They were cool and it was a cool place to live.

Those Mexican chaps used to watch out for me and make sure I was always safe.

I hate this too, if you're going to Email someone there's no need to use text speak, you've got all the space in the world to type!!

Also, have you found that people picking things up from you can be a bit rude, like they're doing you a favour by taking things away and you should be overly greatful?

So far I've had one guy go on and on about something and then not pick it up when he said he was going to, then abusively state that I should've left it outside and that, if I don't, he'll complain about me and tell everyone that I'm a bad Freecycler (blows raspberry)

One woman rang the doorbell after 7pm, big sign on my door saying along the lines of "toddler may be asleep please knock first", (our front room is right next to the front door so we would've heard her)
I took the batteries out after that!! LOL

Also, had one person give me baby clothes caked in dog/cat hair!! Took them to the charity shop as we have bad asthma in the family. . . . or maybe it's just the people round here?!!!
