Frightening message just left on my mobile phone answering machine

I missed a call this evening. A no caller ID number. I thought it was my daughter because she sometimes loses her phone ID. It wasn’t though, and when I listened to the message it was a female adult slowly singing Incy Wincy Spider in a mock baby voice, then after 1 step 2 step, a male voice said “you’re going to die”.

Is this a known prank that’s going round?

What should I do?

Sorry, I thought this was “chat”.

I have no idea, but that is horrible.

QOFE · 20/06/2019 22:34

It'll be some fucker's idea of a joke.

Horrible for you and I'd be freaked out too, but definitely nothing personal and try not to worry about it Flowers

Sagradafamiliar · 20/06/2019 22:34

Round and round the garden? Don't know but I'm scared just reading it you poor thing, have you got anyone with you?

Anyonefeelthesame · 20/06/2019 22:35

It'll be some fucker's idea of a joke.

Someone I know (who hates me that much - my ex Confused?), or a random person and if the latter, how would they have my number?

Ugh that sounds super creepy. You don't recognize the voices, I presume? Have you fallen out with anyone recently?

Sarcelle · 20/06/2019 22:36

There was another thread on here recently which had a similar death threat. Not the same wording but the responses to the thread said that it sounded like an app. Why you would want to do that to another person is odd to say the least but people can be warped.

Is there somebody with you?

JoxerGoesToStuttgart · 20/06/2019 22:37

Well apart from the fact they’ve mixed up two nursery rhymes (there is no 1 step 2 step in incy wincy)I would assume it’s a stupid prank. Unless you’ve pissed anyone off recently?

BlackeyedGruesome · 20/06/2019 22:37

random dialing of the correct number of numbers until one connects.

oh and everyone is going to die, hopefully not anytime soon though.

Sarcelle · 20/06/2019 22:37

Also, have you tried googling to see if that fits a prank?

chuckyeggtimestwo · 20/06/2019 22:38

If someone was going to break into your house and murder you I don’t think they would ring and leave an answerphone message beforehand! Tell someone in rl about it and make a record in case it happens again. My money is on your ex!

Spookydot · 20/06/2019 22:38

Call the police to report it. They maybe able to give you advice. Sometimes even if it’s withheld phone companies can trace calls etc. If it is a prank going round they might put your mind at rest.

Nearlythere1 · 20/06/2019 22:39

I would absolutely call the police in this situation

TattiePants · 20/06/2019 22:39

OP, unless you've fallen out with someone (or you think it could be your ex) it's much more likely that someone has randomly typed numbers into the phone. I don't blame you for being freaked out, it's a horrible thing to do to someone.

ThanosSavedMe · 20/06/2019 22:39

What a shitty thing to do to someone. Try not to worry, it’ll be some idiots idea of funny but won’t mean anything

Anyonefeelthesame · 20/06/2019 22:40

Will try googling it.

I am at home with my dc and my lodger.

Is it 111 that I would report it to?

OP posts:
stayathomer · 20/06/2019 22:40

I agree. Police. And if you haven't someone with you call someone over so you can get some sleepFlowersCakeWine

patchisagoodpup · 20/06/2019 22:40

101

How creepy.

Anyonefeelthesame · 20/06/2019 22:40

My ex is very annoyed with me but I don’t think he is that heartless. Just clutching at straws.

OP posts:
Anyonefeelthesame · 20/06/2019 22:41

How do I send the saved message that’s on my phone to the police - does anyone know?

OP posts:
Candymay · 20/06/2019 22:41

How awful! I hope you’ve got someone with you. It will be someone making scary calls for jokes and not anything personal but even so I would be scared. I’d probably try to report it to the police although I’m not sure what they could do. Hope you’re ok

BarryBarryTaylor · 20/06/2019 22:41

Christ I would be double locking all the windows and doors tonight.
I would consider calling 101.
That’s really frightening!

chuckyeggtimestwo · 20/06/2019 22:42

Try not to get worked up (easy to say i know!) - it’s probably a couple of sad randomers. This is what they want - to mess with peoples heads.

Eaudear · 20/06/2019 22:44

It wasn’t though, and when I listened to the message it was a female adult slowly singing Incy Wincy Spider in a mock baby voice, then after 1 step 2 step, a male voice said “you’re going to die”.

Incy Wincy Spider doesn't have '1 step 2 step'?

Fraxion · 20/06/2019 22:45

That's a horrible thing to do to someone. Hopefully it's a one off like the prank call we had on our machine. A 'policeman' phoning about a family emergency and to call back ASAP on … then he started doing this really weird laugh thing.
