.......Fletcher.

She's always off to exotic places, appears to have an endless amount of friends and distant relations willing to host her and ends up in the thick of drama every week.

It's how I want to retire!

Same with Miss Marple, really. Not surprising, as she was the inspiration for JF.

Totur · 20/06/2019 20:30

I'd love that life. Just travelling here there and yonder solving murder mysteries..

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 20/06/2019 20:31

It would be glorious. Despite the ridiculously high mortality rate that surrounds her, she always escapes unharmed AND gets invited back.

Spare a thought for your hosts though, they’ll hear that you’re coming to visit and go ‘ahhh for fucks sake...’ because one of them is going to to die and another go to prison.

Looobyloo · 20/06/2019 20:32

Her family friends must be mad for even considering inviting her to stay, no way I would!
I personally couldn't be arsed solving murders everytime I went on holiday.

Autumnchill · 20/06/2019 20:33

I'd go with her on the holiday to Hawaii to see Magnum PI 😀

ThatsUnusual · 20/06/2019 20:33

She has SUCH a good life.

Clever, social, successful, and single. Amazing.

Rubytinsleslippers · 20/06/2019 20:34

@bananasAreTheSourceOfEvil nails it!!! Grin

AntennaReborn · 20/06/2019 20:35

Isn't it also strange how all her distant relatives and friends appear to have massive houses, some with live-in help, lavish lifestyles and glamorous jobs. She doesn't seem to know a single cleaner, office admin, SAHP, etc (ie "normal people).

YouSayPotatoesISayVodka · 20/06/2019 20:35

I don’t get why she gets invited anywhere though. She just seems to bring murderous shenanigans wherever she goes.

Totur · 20/06/2019 20:37

Yes, I'd be aware of the reticence around my arrival since it's quite likely I'm either going to become murderous or become a victim of murder. Yet? Still she gets gallivanting everywhere every week.

OP posts:
x2boys · 20/06/2019 20:38

Do.you think she's actually the murderer but because she's a sweet old lady nobody believes itShock

Totur · 20/06/2019 20:38

I suspect the local police get a notification whenever she rocks up too.

I started watching her when I was about 7 or 8. 40 years later she hasn't aged.

I always wonder why the people of Cabot Cove have never just asked her to leave town.

DumpsterBagel · 20/06/2019 21:02

Jessica Fletcher is a bonafide psychopath. Everywhere she visits someone mysteriously dies. She then solves the murder (which has left the local police force flummoxed) and writes a bestseller based upon it, thus earning shed loads of dosh.

She's got everyone fooled. Everyone except me Grin

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 20/06/2019 21:04

Jessica Fletcher is my spirit animal and I want to be her when I grow up.

Nothingsuitsmelikeasuit · 20/06/2019 21:06

I’ve wanted to be J.B Fletcher since I was a kid 🤣 I said when I grew up I wanted to be exactly like her!

CountArthursgroupie · 20/06/2019 21:20

She's a serial killer. Really, has nobody worked that out yet?

Lllot5 · 20/06/2019 21:21

Every where she goes someone dies.I wonder if you can ask her to visit somewhere or someone

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 20/06/2019 21:23

Are there still new episodes being produced, or just repeats? I always longed to be Jessica Fletcher as a girl.

minou123 · 20/06/2019 21:31

YANBU. When I grow up, I want to be Jessica Fletcher.

I love her, I have every 'Murder She Wrote' box set.
I also want to be Judge Judy when I grow up as well Grin

Autumnchill · 20/06/2019 21:48

I've found my people! My family and SIL take the mick out of me for loving MSW.

Just looked on Sky but it only starts at season 1, episode 8

Jamhandprints · 20/06/2019 21:53

Yes she does have a lavish lifestyle. And many good friends. And such a jaunty theme song. Worth the odd murder for that.

MissClareRemembers · 20/06/2019 22:14

I want to be Bertie Wooster. The affable loon gets to wreak havoc in various Stately homes whilst enjoying fabulous dinners cooked by temperamental chefs and sipping cups of tea of a morning delivered by a butler with a genius level IQ whose raison d’être is get aforesaid affable loon out of scrapes.

Being constantly nagged by aunts seems a small price to pay.

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 20/06/2019 22:15

It's called Murder She Caused in our house.

chuckyeggtimestwo · 20/06/2019 22:20

I love Murder, she wrote. DP often comes home from work when I’m watching it and he takes the piss! I especially love the episodes when she’s in Cabot Cove - I want to live there! It’s such a cosy programme.
