Wondering about putting makeup on my eyebrows

I'm not planning the full magic-marker effect because I know I would look an absolute twat. But I've just dyed my hair and, looking in the mirror, my eyebrows look pathetic - I think they've actually gone grey. (I am in my 50s.)
Can you buy subtle eyebrow stuff and is it easy to apply? Going to a party tonight...

Just use a soft brown eyeshadow and slim brush

Winterfellismyhome · 15/06/2019 11:53

I use a NYX eyebrow pencil which is quite subtle. Or Benefit gimme brow

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 15/06/2019 11:56

You can get them tinted

ememem84 · 15/06/2019 11:57

Eyebrow pencil and just fill them in lightly.

Piffyonarockbun · 15/06/2019 11:59

Benefit goof proof pencil is good. Id never done much to my eyebrows but theyve started looking thin. Always looks natural, just better.

MammaMia19 · 15/06/2019 12:00

Next time getting them tinted would be a good idea but not today as they will be too dark.
Nyx eyebrow pencil is really good, comes with a little brush at the end, just do small strokes then brush it through.

I find Rimmel eyebrow pencil is the most harsh/solid so best avoided!

Merryoldgoat · 15/06/2019 12:01

I use a powder and angled brush. Much nicer than the full on painted on brows imho.

Yes! I hate the idea of a pencil or pen - mine have lots of hair but it's super badger. I also tend to not look at my face for the whole day so need something that doesn't smudge - I use Benefit Gimme Brow. It is kind of like a mascara for brows - but it does not look thick at all - and I can put it on quite sparsely just to reduce the whiteness. It's fab. I went from scoffing at eyebrow make-up to loving it.www.benefitcosmetics.com/uk/en-gb/product/gimme-brow-volumising-eyebrow-gel

I have lots of white hairs just in ONE eyebrow! I couldn't get on with eyebrow pencil, it doesn't seem to stick to them.

An acquaintance who's a make-up artist recommended Benefit's Gimme Brow, and I find it brilliant. It comes in several shades, so easy to get the right colour, and looks totally natural. It's like a mini-mascara, and really easy to put on

ReanimatedSGB · 15/06/2019 12:06

Thanks all, so an eyebrow mascara is the best option (Benefit anything is outside my budget). Will see what they have in Savers.

I tint mine with a dye that lasts 30 days. It's very subtle.

YesQueen · 15/06/2019 12:09

@ReanimatedSGB Barry m take a brow is a good one and a giant tube

Oysterbabe · 15/06/2019 12:10

This is what I use. My eyebrows are invisible without it as I'm very blonde.

I use Clarins light brown eye shadow with a very small thin brush.

Cryalot2 · 15/06/2019 12:17

Wonderbrow . Not cheap but stays in place for 2 days and brilliant.

GingerRogers84 · 15/06/2019 12:19

Both Revolution and Maybelline do a brow product that you paint on leave for 20 mins then peel off. It's a subtle temporary colour that tints the brow and the skin.
I have fair brows with my dark hair and cannot be parted from this now!

Auldspinster · 15/06/2019 12:21

Primark's brow pencils are very good.

QuestionableMouse · 15/06/2019 12:25

Depending on what colour you need I might have something you can use. It came in my Birchbox and it's no use to me. (naturally thick and dark brows)

Pm me 😀

OhDiddums · 15/06/2019 12:25

You can buy the minis of benefit products, so may be cheaper and you can see if you like the product. Alternatively go to boots or debenhams and ask them to try the product because you're considering buying it. They may give you some testers to take away and try for a few days to see whether you like it.

ittooshallpass · 15/06/2019 12:27

I just use an eyebrow pencil. It's very subtle but gives my eyebrows definition. I've had great and horrendous results from tinting, so decided not to go that route again.

JeSuisPrest · 15/06/2019 12:28

NYC Tame and Frame - about £7 for a pot which lasts months.

FFSeverynameisused · 15/06/2019 12:28

it will be hard to get off and not look right

JeSuisPrest · 15/06/2019 12:28

*NYX

I have a few different products that are specifically for brows, but also sometimes use a brown (non-sparkly!) eyeshadow. If you have a little brow comb/wand (Poundland sell packs of mascara wands), comb your brows into shape you want. Use a small brush to add the eyeshadow where you need it. Comb it again with the wand. I sometimes need to tidy up around the edge with a damp cotton bud. I also spray a tiny bit of hair spray on the wand at the end and sweep it through to hold the shape.
