To tell ds I will have a stroke?

My ds (10) is having health anxiety due to two close friends parents dying and another having a life threatening illness. We were watching TV and the stroke advert came on and he was visably upset by it and asked what it was. I explained best I could and DH said in front of ds that I should be worried as I'm so fat and drink too much. Now ds is sobbing.
I am fat and I am trying to turn it around but aibu to think dh was a complete fucker for worrying ds?

Yes he's a complete fucker. Not sure what else to say really!

littlepeaegg · 13/06/2019 20:44

That's awful, sorry OP. Really nasty.

GruciusMalfoy · 13/06/2019 20:44

YANBU. That is a fucking awful thing to say in front of a 10yo.

Deafdonkey · 13/06/2019 20:52

Thanks, I know it's ridiculous asking strangers on a forum but when I objected he made out it was my fault for being fat and then I doubted myself. I'm not an idiot I know my lifestyle makes me more at risk but why terrify a 10 year old.

Absolutely vile thing to say, both for you and your Ds's sake.

User10fuckingmillion · 13/06/2019 20:54

Fucking hell what is his problem?!

Greyhoundsaregreyt · 13/06/2019 20:56

Inexcusable.

PlinkPlink · 13/06/2019 20:59

What the actual fuck?

Who says that to their son when they're already upset?

A complete cunt, that's who.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 13/06/2019 21:01

Awful on his part.

Leeds2 · 13/06/2019 21:02

I don't think I would be able to forgive, or forget, this. It is incredibly cruel, both to you and to DS.

babysharkah · 13/06/2019 21:03

What an absolute cock.

Lifeover · 13/06/2019 21:04

Your husband is a nasty fucker, lose 12 stone in one hit and chuck him out at least til he’s learned not to act like a cunt to you and your child

MyOpinionIsValid · 13/06/2019 21:07

Cack handedly, your DH was probably trying to shock you into a healthier lifestyle so you don't leave your child an orphan, like his friends. I doubt he was deliberately upsetting a child

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 13/06/2019 21:10

Nasty, Poor kid! Some people shouldn’t be allowed dc, Hope your ADULT dh feels big now his made a child cry........

HollowTalk · 13/06/2019 21:20

And is your husband a picture of health himself?

Justaboy · 13/06/2019 21:21

Well just check your blood pressure is within limits thats a prime cause of strokes..

Darayan20 · 13/06/2019 21:24

I think your dh wanted to send you a message stop drinking and go on diet your ds needs his mum if not for you do it for your ds

MaudeLynne · 13/06/2019 21:27

If it helps, when I was visiting my father on the stroke unit, not one of the patients that we saw (and there was a lot, he was there for weeks) was fat.

That was very cruel to you and to DS

If your OH is worried about your health, that's not the way to motivate you to change

However, he sounds judgey about you, not concerned

Darayan20 · 13/06/2019 21:30

Talk to your gp get help your dh is trying to shock you so you would open your eyes and think about your health make that boy happy loose weight and trash all those bottles

Greyhoundsaregreyt · 13/06/2019 21:31

Deserve what, Mitzi? Shock

Tinkobell · 13/06/2019 21:33

Consider get a referral from GP for your son to get counselling - anxiety like this post deaths are a serious matter that can create bigger mental health issues later on. In tandem, actively make lifestyle changes to reduce your stroke risk OP.
