To think I can fit into this dress

First world problem if ever there was one. Also probably not strictly an AIBU posting for traffic.

My friend is having a big 40th mid July. The evening is a dressed up event, as posh as you like but most people will dress up.

I really don't want to buy something new. I have a dress that would be perfect but bought 2 years ago and is now too small. I can do it up by some miracle but it's very tight and not comfortable.

Can I lose the weight in a month? If so, how?

Yes but cutting your calories

Yes. I guess that would be a help! Grin

Keto diet - I’ve lost 16lbs in 8 weeks- most weight lost ever and it’s easy and I’m full of wnergyy

Bouncebacker · 13/06/2019 16:53

Energy

Bouncebacker · 13/06/2019 16:54

Essentially no carbs or sugar (at all) - just loads of green leafy veg, protein and use fat to help you feel full

Gustavo1 · 13/06/2019 16:54

There is a regime called whole 30. It’s pretty strict and low carb but you can lose lots of weight in a month.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 13/06/2019 16:55

You probably can but there is a difference between fitting into something and looking good.

blackteasplease · 13/06/2019 16:58

hormones that's where I am at the moment- I can "fit" in it but it's uncomfortable and doesn't look as good as it should.

I want to get down to a weoght where it looks good and fits comfortably. My weight is all on my stomach - I have PCOS so it all goes there.

I just don't want to go out and spend money!

Since you can get it on now I'm sure you can get it to fit nicely within a month. Losing 2lbs a week would be more than enough, and its a healthy pace to lose weight at. I've lost a stone on a meal replacement in 3 weeks but it wasn't easy or healthy.

Drogosnextwife · 13/06/2019 17:02

Keto diet makes you lose weight fast but it won't daty off. My dp did it for a couple of months lost about 2 stone but as soon as he started eating normally again it went back on and more. Its good but not maintainable, but then if its just for this one party it will probably be ideal.

Bigfanofcheese · 13/06/2019 17:04

Im trying an oldie but a goodie, the cabbage soup diet for the same issue! I have a bridesmaids dress for July that is lovely and zips up but is a little bit snug under the arms. I'll do that for a week then continue on my fitness pal.

leiaskye · 13/06/2019 17:04

I joined Slimming world at the beginning of May. I have a stone and a half to lose, & have lost 11lbs already.

So, yes it is possible, but you are better doing an eating plan that you’ll follow for the rest of your life rather than a crash duet, otherwise you’ll just out it back on.

Bigfanofcheese · 13/06/2019 17:05

Using spinach or kale, though, much nicer.

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 13/06/2019 17:07

Then should definitely manage it. You will need to cut calories and some exercise would be good.

blackteasplease · 13/06/2019 17:11

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! All really helpful. I will give them all some thought- exercise seems the most sensible teamed with lower calories and lower carbs but nothing too drastic.

Funny how financial considerations are so much more.motivating than anything else!

Exercise won’t do much sadly

No carbs or reduced a lot
Loads of veg and fruit and cut Wine
No cake 🧁

blackteasplease · 13/06/2019 17:15

I've already given up all sugar since Feb!

Carb cutting dramatically I'm sure is good.

I'm not sure I'm motivated quite enough to cut out all booze but may be should try this!

My DH has had amazing results from doing the Fast 800 coupled with 16:8. 2.5 stone in 2 months and it's staying off as its kick started him into being healthier. I've joined him in the 16:8..didn't really need to lose weight but lost half a stone in just a few weeks without doing anything else and probably less exercise than usual!

BruceAndNosh · 13/06/2019 17:16

Do you have time in the day for walking?
Serious brisk walking 3 miles a day has helped me lose three quarters of a stone with absolutely no calorie counting or stintlng on food. (OK, it's taken since August so no help to you but I just needed to brag!)

ChequersDog · 13/06/2019 17:19

Do the shred if it’s mainly on your stomach. Makes a huge difference to your body shape in 30 days.

blackteasplease · 13/06/2019 17:21

That's good Bruce! I do walk quite alot each day- May be could pick up the pace as a long term thing too.

Is 16:8 the one where you only eat between (say) 11 am and 7pm?

OP posts:
Namechangeishard · 13/06/2019 17:25

Start logging everything into my fitness Pal. Seeing how many calories are actually in things helps you make choices about what to eat. You can still eat all the things you want but by weighing and logging everything you don’t over eat.
Alcohol by the way is calorific. My belly has a lot more jelly if I’ve been hitting the booze Grin

blackteasplease · 13/06/2019 17:28

Yeah I'm think that I will cut down booze but not avoid at social things. I don't have much in the way of social events between now and then!

I have gained weight since working in an office.

I'm sure you can! I have lost 13 kg since January by holding my calories at 1300 daily. I've recently started doing pushups in the morning and sit ups at night too - one extra of each, every day. Now up to 37 of each Grin

You can make a massive difference in a month - go for it!
