Would you buy used underwear for your dc?

DaanSaaf · 11/06/2019 22:30

There's a man on my local fb selling page advertising used girls underwear age 2-3 years.
I buy a lot of second hand clothes for my dc (and myself) but would never buy underwear and I'm wondering genuinely who would.

I actually felt a bit sick at the thought of who would be buying them and want to know if I'm being unreasonable.

Nah

wonderingsoul · 11/06/2019 22:32

No I wouldnt.

But our nursery takes donations from parents for spares so I guess it's no different to that really.

BillywilliamV · 11/06/2019 22:33

No but will hand down clean underwear in the family. Has to be spotless though.

Kittywampus · 11/06/2019 22:33

No, but I have used hand me downs

Cornettoninja · 11/06/2019 22:35

No I wouldn’t. Also I’m not one for shouting perv and paedo at every opportunity but this gives me the creeps.

Dontcarewhatimdoing · 11/06/2019 22:35

God no, and I have very very low standards when it comes to hygiene! No one should have to endure second hand underwear!

DaanSaaf · 11/06/2019 22:37

The seller seems genuine enough, has other children's clothes for sale but it just disturbed me tbh. There are photos and a weird line about there being no obvious stains. Hopefully it's just me feeling a bit ick about it.

Wait, what ?
Used under wear for children 2-3 being sold by a man ?
Im usually very easy going on MN but this does not feel right

beela · 11/06/2019 22:38

No!

But the preloved pants on the fb boden selling groups seem to get snapped up Confused

toriathet · 11/06/2019 22:38

i used to buy second hand cloth nappies

maybe hes thinking people can use them for toilet training as after a poo incident some just throw away instead or washing

also if you are poor or have 2 close together its just giving them a wash really

before i discovered simply be i used to buy my bras off ebay as they were the only place i could get my size, always give them a good wash though

WelshMoth · 11/06/2019 22:38

Agreed.

Mammylamb · 11/06/2019 22:38

Hell no. I see it on the Facebook selling page: expensive brands (ie mini Boden etc) been sold second hand. I don’t think the sellers or buyers are “pervs”, but ffs buy your wean new knickers: they’re cheap out of primark

tenlittlecygnets · 11/06/2019 22:38

Yuk. No.

DaanSaaf · 11/06/2019 22:39

toriathet honestly I hope you're right. Something about it just doesn't sit well though.

WanderingTrolley1 · 11/06/2019 22:39

Vests, yes. Pants, I don’t think so.

OldAndWornOut · 11/06/2019 22:40

I love secondhand clothes, but this seems really creepy to me.
Makes my flesh crawl.
I dread to think who buys them.

DaanSaaf · 11/06/2019 22:40

I'm considering reporting the post to admins

OP posts:
Jade218 · 11/06/2019 22:41

Thtats absolutely disgusting. Never would I buy used underwear. Ever

Aquamarine1029 · 11/06/2019 22:41

Used underwear? Not a chance.

cricketmum84 · 11/06/2019 22:42

With the price you can get kids underwear from primark etc I would never even consider buying used underwear for my kids. If I wouldn't wear someone else's used underwear then I don't see why my kids should have to.

HollowTalk · 11/06/2019 22:42

I would be very, very suspicious of a man selling that sort of thing.

intelligentPutty · 11/06/2019 22:44

No. Report him. Definitely. What a weirdo.

DaanSaaf · 11/06/2019 22:48

I'm not sure the seller is a weirdo, maybe just naive. Or maybe I'm being naive Confused
As I said, he's selling other items and his profile has lots of family stuff on. It's just the thought of someone none genuine buying them that's actually making me feel quite ill.
Should I report to admin or message the seller direct?

OP posts:
Coulddowithanap · 11/06/2019 22:49

What if he is just a normal dad selling his daughters old clothes, underwear included. He may realise that not everyone can afford new or maybe they are that desperate for money they have listed everything.

Bluerussian · 11/06/2019 22:51

You're not being unreasonable. Can't imagine buying used underwear. There's something disturbingly odd about advertising that.
