To wonder what fabletics is about

ItsMilkAndEggsBitch · 06/06/2019 15:53

Just started going to the gym but wear years old 3/4 length sweatpants and was after some decentish gym gear

I don't want to spend too much and I am an 18-20

Was looking at fabletics they seem nice designs and quality looks ok. It's around my price range but I don't understand how it works?
Can I get the 2 for 24 pound leggings and then cancel my account or do I have to 'skip the month' every month for eternity!

Very confused!

Following as in same boat.

geekone · 06/06/2019 15:57

Skip the month every month for eternity I am sure though there is something in the T&Cs that state you have to purchase so many times of the year.

legolimb · 06/06/2019 15:58

I havent bought from them but heard that they are okay quality wise.

To keep it simple though Id just check out the supermarkets for gym kit. At least you can try it on for size and comfort. I'd be annoyed if I forgot to cancel and ended up having to pay loads extra.

I have lots of gym gear and mos of it is from Primark, Decathlon and some BAM.

BumandChips · 06/06/2019 15:59

Skip the month forever. I tried to leave once and they refunded me £44 that I’d paid once instead. I am going to try and leave again now!

LilyRose88 · 06/06/2019 15:59

I think it is a monthly subscription service so you have to pay a set amount each month and phone them on a specific date each month if you don't want to receive (and pay for) their recommended outfit for you that month. I was initially attracted by the offer of two pairs of leggings for £24 but when they arrived I did not like them. It was quite an experience trying to cancel my ongoing contract with them, as they do everything they can to persuade you to carry on. To be fair I did get my refund and manage to cancel the agreement but it wasn't straightforward or quick to do.

BumandChips · 06/06/2019 16:00

Just to add I do love my Fabletics leggings with pockets they are great and better than the ones I bought from Sports Direct or wherever it was.

modgepodge · 06/06/2019 16:00

You can cancel your account whenever. Just remember to do so! I skipped most months for a couple of years, inevitabily I occasionally forgot and was charged and had to get some gym wear using the credits. Though tbf, twice I forgot and was really short so phoned up and asked for a refund and got it easily.

They get a bad rap I think, and unfairly so. It’s a subscription service, as long as you know this and skip or cancel if you no longer want it, it works just fine. If you don’t read the small print and think it’s a one off purchase then never check your bank balance, you may find they’ve taken £44 per month for 2 years (yep, I’ve seen reviews complaining this happened),

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/06/2019 16:01

I like the look of their stuff but I know myself. I would end up with a house full of crap, not even unwrapped.

MustShowDH · 06/06/2019 16:04

I'm size 18/20 Asda do good quality workout gear in our size.

Decathlon is okay, but a bit trial and error with sizes, but returns easy.

Know nothing about Fabletics, but thought the above might help!

Lexilooo · 06/06/2019 16:07

Just go to primark, much easier and cheaper!

Antigon · 06/06/2019 16:10

They are relying on people’s inertia to make money. I wouldn’t buy from them on principle. I think a lot of people are being exploited. I bet it’s the same company as the just fab shoes. Money suckers.

TheWernethWife · 06/06/2019 16:19

Sainsbury's have nice gym kit

BadBear · 06/06/2019 16:24

I used them to get the 2 pairs of leggings for £24 with free delivery. I signed up as a VIP member. Once I received my order and was happy with the sizes/styles, I phoned them and cancelled. All in all it took a minute to cancel the membership. Nothing dodgy about the site or any exploitation. If you train a lot and go through a lot of clothes throughout the week and can spare £44 a month then why not.

It was so worth it. The leggings are great quality and totally squat-proof. I would highly recommend the Powerhold ones, they feel so secure and they tuck in at the right places!

TKMaxx are a great shout as well, you can find some really good brands like Canadian Mondetta for a fraction of the price.

HariboLectar · 06/06/2019 16:30

Tesco & Matalan have a good range. H&M also but mainly online I think.

Bezalelle · 06/06/2019 16:30

Why would you need a subscription to gym pants? Just buy a couple of pairs in Primark or wherever.

ItsMilkAndEggsBitch · 06/06/2019 16:32

Hmmm I never thought of supermarkets. I know they do stuff in the January hype. I'm so tempted by fabletics but I know I'll end up getting screwed over

My running leggings are from Aldi and they are brilliant, really long lasting.

legolimb · 06/06/2019 16:38

Yy to Aldi and Lidl for kit too.

I'm currently in a pair I bought from Costco hears ago. They are excellent quality - I've had them for at least five years.

Hobbes8 · 06/06/2019 16:45

Decathlon and H&M do good leggings. I’ve never tried Aldi, but they middle aisle of wonder is all exercise stuff this week. I’ve been pondering spanking £80 I don’t have on one of those vibrating boards you do squats on.

hidinginthenightgarden · 06/06/2019 16:45

I used their shoe brand justfab and cancelled after my order arrived.

HariboLectar · 06/06/2019 16:46

Oh yes, Decathlon are brilliant and reasonably priced. Sizing can get confusing though (or could just be me!)

HelloSunshine11 · 06/06/2019 16:49

I'm the same size and have three great pairs of leggings from asda. They don't slip down, they're not see-through, and they have a little pocket in the waistband for keys. Well worth a look.

grahamcracker · 06/06/2019 16:51

H&M leggings etc. are seriously not as good quality. Fabletics are really great. Super water-wicking and wonderful thick fabric without being too hot for strenuous, sweaty exercise. Their tops are great too!

I used H&M for a long time and it was a false economy!

Also, I cancelled my subscription, once I had received my order, on the live chat without even having to call and it took 2 minutes.

WeirdCatLady · 06/06/2019 16:59

Matalan do some nice ‘activewear’ too.
