To wonder what fabletics is about

Just started going to the gym but wear years old 3/4 length sweatpants and was after some decentish gym gear

I don't want to spend too much and I am an 18-20

Was looking at fabletics they seem nice designs and quality looks ok. It's around my price range but I don't understand how it works?
Can I get the 2 for 24 pound leggings and then cancel my account or do I have to 'skip the month' every month for eternity!

Very confused!

Even M&S have some reasonable gym stuff and quite a range at the moment - I am a 22 and there was some to fit me

BIWI · 06/06/2019 17:02

Best 3/4 gym leggings I ever bought were from Asda. I think they're indestructible!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 06/06/2019 17:08

You pay monthly, so unless you want to buy gymkitevery month,it’s not worth it.

Sainsbury’s, Matalan, Gymshark do decent stuff, although Gymsharkis a bit more expensive. Sometimes Next do and M&S. There’s an online company called Zulily, that has gym stuff nearly every day. It takes a couple of weeks for d,ivery, but you can get workout leggings for £11.99 sometimes and racer back vests and sports bras. They wash and wear well.

woollyheart · 06/06/2019 17:12

If you've just started going to the gym, I think a subscription to monthly gym clothing would be a bit extreme.

I'd assume that you would need to be a fanatical gym user to need this much kit.

Once you have started looking around, you'll find lots of suitable gym clothing, and you won't have to stick with one supplier.

BarbaraofSevillle · 06/06/2019 17:12

I really like M&S gym gear. They seem to have 2 sections in our store. A 'workout' section within all the clothes, but there's also some more near the pyjamas and loungewear.

Good quality, reasonable prices, wide size ranges and some nice loose fitting tops if you want something less clingy.

BarbaraofSevillle · 06/06/2019 17:13

Oh, and to answer your other question, I would stay away from Fabletics. Ridiculous business model and yes it will be hard work to stop them taking your money and/or sending you stuff you didn't ask for.

woollyheart · 06/06/2019 17:23

It sounds similar to the Silkies tights business model.

That was a pain - sending tights far more often than anyone could possibly need them. And difficult to cancel.

AudacityOfHope · 06/06/2019 17:39

Why pay a ton for Fabletics and be stuck in a contract when all the supermarkets, and Matalan, do perfectly good stuff?

Somertime · 06/06/2019 17:39

I was sceptical but you don't have to pay monthly you can skip a month for however long you want. Their leggings are great quality too. I cancelled after about 2 years as I injured myself so didn't need kit regularly and it was easy to do.

HostessTrolley · 06/06/2019 17:49

I’m a size 18, I bought a pair of fabletics leggings bnwt on eBay. They are really mice, much better fabric than my previous ones from sportsdirect/tesco/etc. I’m 5’5” and found the 7/8 length to be great. I bought another pair from tk maxx. They’re DKNY in size XL, were £20, and just pip the fabletics ones at the post because they’re slightly higher rise at the back - I have a big bum. I’m going to keep looking out on eBay rather than signup to fabletics I think

ShinyRuby · 06/06/2019 17:52

TK Maxx has loads of really good fitness gear from loads of different brands. They're especially good for thick, quality leggings with pockets. Some Sports Direct stuff is ok but try on first as their return policy is pretty bad. Primark is ok for tops but the leggings are only ok until you actually try to do anything, not really fit for running/aerobics. I was really put off Fabletics, the stuff looks great but it just seemed so complicated.

Antigon · 06/06/2019 17:59

you can skip a month for however long you want.

And what if you skip a month but it doesn't register? Then it's your word against theirs that you did skip that month.

modgepodge · 06/06/2019 18:07

@antigon you get an email confirming you’ve skipped. As I said, when I actually forgot to skip (entirely my own fault) they refunded me twice. Cancelling completely took 5 mins on the phone.

The quality is great, far better than primary or supermarket stuff.

It’s not that tricky really. 🤷‍♀️

modgepodge · 06/06/2019 18:07

Primark, not primary.

Antigon · 06/06/2019 18:13

Ah ok thanks @modgepodge . That's a bit better but I think there shout be an opt-in system rather than opt-out. I just think it exploits people who have stuff going on (mental, family, work etc) and can't skip a month when they want to.

Simonfromharlow · 06/06/2019 20:15

Asda gym wear is really good for the price!

lostelephant · 06/06/2019 20:20

I'd buy them off of eBay or depop if you want to try them, it sounds like a ball ache to have to cancel every single month until god knows when.

Crapplepie · 06/06/2019 20:26

Sports direct Karrimor xlite high waisted ones are my go to for running. Nice and stretchy, drawstrings to pull the waist in so they don't fall down, little pocket at the back. I clock up probably 50 miles per week, and I reach for them over the higher end brands. No clue about fabletics though!

ladyratterley · 17/06/2019 11:32

Fabletics leggings are really good! I joined ages ago & bought an outfit on offer, then skipped it each month apart from one month when I forgot. (I actually used that credit for an outfit though as I needed some more gym stuff at the time.)
Skipping a month is super easy. You get an email & you click a button. I cancelled my subscription last year and that was very easy. It took 5 minutes on the phone, no pressure.

However I have just joined up again to get the two leggings for £25 offer. They are really good. Comfy & non see through. Especially the powerhold as they have a bit of tummy control so are super flattering.
Buying leggings from Primark will not be the same, trust me! I wouldn't bother with the tops from Fabletics so much, but having good quality, fitted hold-you-in leggings from there is worth it. I can't bring myself to spend £80 on a pair from Lulu Lemon or Sweaty Betty.

HelloDoris · 17/06/2019 11:36

I buy from all over, supermarkets, sports direct etc, but my sister put me onto www.sportsshoes.com and I check out their sale section regularly. I've found many items really cheap and I buy my trainers from them...
