RIP Kerr Avon. So sad he's gone.

Sad to hear this, I adored Blake's 7, creaky sets & all.

Oh no! He was a legend in that part, the best complex villain/antihero ever. And he was Sam Vimes in a stage adaptation of Guards! Guards! too.

Oh no. He was brilliant as Avon. Such a fab actor.

Sorry to hear this, though he was ‘lucky’ to survive serious illness some years ago. End of an era. Loved his voice.

78 apparently. And was with his wife for 48 years before her death - so sweet and refreshing.

He was great. I knew Gareth Thomas casually and he would often say that they were meeting up or that they had talked on the phone. Very sad.

I loved Paul Darrow, so underrated as an actor. Amazing in everything I saw him in. Good voice actor too.

He was on Pointless with Michael Keating last year. He seemed in pretty good form despite having lost his legs. Always seemed like a lovely bloke, and his performance as Avon (along with Jacqueline Pearce’s high camp turn) raised Blake Seven from just another low budget British attempt at sf to TV gold.

Oh! For a short time, many moons ago, we would bump into him semi regularly. He was lovely, used to joke that we must be famous because he recognised us, after the 5th or 6th time of meeting.

I hope someone re-runs his best bits

I was sorry to hear this earlier, I saw him as Vimes at the theatre and he was fabulous. It’s so annoying that the Beeb no longer have the tapes of Blake’s Seven.
I just saw a photo of him and Jacqueline Pierce laughing on set on Twitter and the caption said they‘ll be reminiscing now...

This is sad. I loved Avon. His poor wife, to lose him after such a long marriage.

ChoccyJules you can get the complete Blake's 7 on DVD - it's a Dutch edition, but if you turn off the subtitles it's honestly fine. I'm going to watch my box set again over the summer.

Re the DVDs, yes, we have the complete set, purchased many years ago now. I don' t think ours is Dutch.

So sad about this as well. Saw him with Michael Keating (Vila) on Pointless Celebrities a few months ago. They clearly got on well in real life, despite Avon's occasional on-screen attempt to murder Vila!
