RIP Kerr Avon. So sad he's gone.

Oh good grief. There are DVDs?! All this time I thought the tapes had been lost for all eternity Shock

SisterMaryLoquacious · 04/06/2019 20:45

Yes, I’ve got the Dutch DVDs, which I bought to replace my video copies. Readily available from Amazon for less than 40 quid, perfectly good quality but no extras.

MillicentMartha · 04/06/2019 20:51

Oh no, I really fancied him on Blake’s Seven as well. I was sad to see him on Pointless having lost his legs. He was a brilliant anti-hero.

Ravenclawclassof84 · 04/06/2019 21:02

I believe he appeared at a few comicons and I wish I had met him at one of them. He seemed such a lovely man. Kerr Avon is one of my favourite ever TV characters and Paul's appearance as Duncan Clench in Toast of London was just 😍

scaryteacher · 04/06/2019 21:46

I will buy the DVDs. It's how Mum got me to do my homework - no Blake's Seven if I didn't! You could keep the rest of them, but I wanted Avon for Christmas, even at 11!

SisterMaryLoquacious · 04/06/2019 22:11

When I was at boarding school we got our lights turned out slightly late on a Monday (?) because our housemistress fancied Avon and wasn’t going anywhere until Blake’s Seven had finished.

Tinuviel · 04/06/2019 22:29

I have the full set of DVDs and think I might have to binge watch them. Absolutely adored him as Avon.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 07/06/2019 06:57

Blake’s 7 fans who took the DC to see Detective Pikachu may have noticed Josette “Dayna” Simon as the hero’s grandma.

Rowgtfc72 · 07/06/2019 07:01

Sad news. Always thought he was quite a scary character. Excellent actor though. Rip.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 08/06/2019 08:01

@SisterMary Grin

Incidentally, whilst browsing YT just now a suggestion has come up of a whole episode so it seems you can watch at least some of them on YouTube. Just had a look at the link and S1x13 is on there , First episode Orac.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 08/06/2019 08:02

Oh, yes it was on Mondays .

@Rowgtfc I found him quite an arrogant character rather than scary . Avon excelled at arrogance , haha, especially toward Villa . In real life they got on very very well apparently and were still in touch till Paul died I believe . The one whom played Villa pops up from time to time as a vicar or priest in EastEnders.

Rowgtfc72 · 08/06/2019 10:17

Villa was my favourite. I used to make communicator bracelets out of the cardboard sellotape inners.
Arrogant might be the word. He reminded me of everything I didn't like in my old headmaster.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 09/06/2019 09:58

@Rowgtfc72

I liked Villa too . He always managed to bluff his way out of trouble, well, until the final episode that is .

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 09/06/2019 10:02

Thanks for that link @HelenaDove . Never realised he done so so much in his career.

HelenaDove · 09/06/2019 21:04

On TV right now in The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes on Talking Pics TV
