Help get holiday ready, I've only got 6 weeks!

Since January the diet has been starting tomorrow and of course it hasn't bloody started. So right now I'm facing the prospect of having to buy a whole new set of clothes for me holiday, and never wanting to look at the holiday photos again as I'm such a lumpBlush

So, I've got 6 weeks to get my arms thinner and more toned, try and get rid of my mum belly (especially the little pouch bit at the bottom that I blame on the kids but actually it's all due to me eating crap), and a thinner face. Not much to ask!

I don't want to go on a silly diet to obviously I need to start eating healthily and cut out all the crap. Exercise? Do do I do the 30 day shred? I used to run but haven't for ages. I do cycle to work, though.

So, give me all you've got to help me look a million times better (so feel a million times better) in just six darn weeks. Go!

I have optimistically set the alarm for 6.30am , hoping to get up and exercise before the DC are up and the day begins!

CaptainMarvellous · 02/06/2019 22:34

I'm in the same position. I bought a new bikini today, a size 16, and had the realisation that this is what I am going to look like. I literally look 9 months pregnant... I'm not, DD is 13 months.
I think I have 8 weeks

LeukaeLucky · 03/06/2019 07:26

@Jeds55 you're welcome
Good luck

A while back l started circuit training after no exercise for years except walking. Cut out biscuits( l ate a lot) .Ate usual diet as except for biscuits it was pretty good. I rarely drink so no alcohol involved before or after. In one month l dropped a stone and lost 13 inches off my body. Gym measures me. It wasnt even tough...more fun. And l am in 50s so menopausal. So its doable.
Don't make a big deal out of it or you wont stick to it. Cut out all crap and eat regular meals. Up the weights with more sessions. 6 weeks is good. But keep it up on holidays with lots of walking every day so it's not a short term thing.

gingerpaleandproud · 03/06/2019 08:15

@junebirthdaygirl wow! How often did you do circuits?

I have about 6 weeks too.
Tried Keto and it messed me up so bad . Had numerous migraines, a rash and now I’m hypersensitive to stuff which may be a coincidence but I’m not risking it anymore .
I’ve decided to go for calorie deficit so one meal a day (dinner) , drink more water and go to the gym more .

Sharkattack2 · 03/06/2019 08:32

Me too! I’ve got around 5 weeks to go. This time last year I lost a stone 6 weeks before my holiday by using MFP and having 1000 cals a day. It worked and I was in the right head space for 6 weeks. I still wasn’t thin going on holiday but I felt an awful lot better.
Of course it’s all crept back on so I’m now back to square one.
Will start again today

NameChangeNugget · 03/06/2019 08:53

Lovely thread OP, and good luck to you all.

I think the poster who said it’s 80% in the kitchen is bang on. I also think combining it with training is good, as you’re less likely to eat crap having sweated out 700 calories from a high impact class and the two then work in tandem.

You’ve got this Flowers

junebirthdaygirl · 03/06/2019 09:05

Did circuits 4 times a week but it's just 30 mins a time with some stretching before and after. Its brilliant. I get very bored doing long sessions.

gingerpaleandproud · 03/06/2019 09:07

Aww you're all great, good luck to everyone! I'm going to try sooooooo hard from today to sort out my eating. I don't think I could do Keto, I just need to cut out all the crap that I eat. I most definitely know why I'm overweight, because I eat too much rubbish. So that needs to stop right now. I've got some eggs boiling as they are a perfect go to snack for me, and I'm going to go out and stock up on fruit and veg.

Go us!!!

I have six weeks too. Did really well last year and although I was still overweight I felt better in myself. I too have a wardrobe of clothes that don’t fit. So aim is to get down a dress size at a minimum.

Aiming for calorie deficit and low GI foods and 10k steps a day. And I might book a personal trainer as I really need to tone up and some discipline and motivation.

And I’m not doing it for anyone but myself. I am unhealthily overweight and losing some weight for a holiday deadline is motivating. I’ll still be overweight but I will have improved my health both physically and mentally.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 03/06/2019 15:56

Try not to focus on the crap you are cutting out of your diet, think about the things you can have. I'm doing Keto (almost 4 stone down since Jan) but I always have healthy snacks prepped so they are the easiest things to eat when I'm getting hungry.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 05/06/2019 12:07

How is everyone getting on? I had my first pt session yesterday. Tracking my food and macros on mfp. In a good positive mindset for it.

Bubblysqueak · 05/06/2019 20:17

I'm really struggling with lunches at work as I don't get an official lunch break so usually eat whilst at my desk which can limit options. So I've bought the vegan slim fast shake (I've a dairy allergy) so I can get something with some nutritional value and I'll take some fruit.
Was slightly disappointed when I hopped on the bathroom scales this morning and found I'd gained 6lbs over the weekend, dh came home and told me ds had broken them on Sunday, phew !

LostaraYil · 09/06/2019 19:07

How are you all doing? I have worked out a lot this week (HIIT at home) and eaten low carb, but not seeing much loss yet. My skin is much better, though!

berryhead2013 · 09/06/2019 20:13

Keto low carb all the way I have lost 2 and a half stone since March I got a fit bit and do it all through that and I make myself walk at least 15000 steps a day you can do this xx

NowYouListenToMeFella · 09/06/2019 22:49

Did ok this weekend. Stuck to my cals, ate no rubbish and worked out. No idea if I dropped weight as I don't own a scales. Stomach definitely looks less bloated. Have enjoyed my two pt sessions this week.

The skin and body care regime in full flow too. Going to bed takes a fair bit longer than it used to 😂

PregnantSea · 10/06/2019 02:25

Whatever diet you choose from this thread (calorie counting, low carb etc) I would highly recommend combining it with intermittent fasting. You haven't got long to shed the pounds and for me this always gives me a great head start - not only does it massively cut my calorie intake without even trying but it feels almost like a reset button if I've been overeating, because it reminds me what hungry is, it shifts my focus away from food and snacking, and when it's time to start eating again the next day I eat a normal, healthy sized portion and feel very full and satisfied, rather than stuffing my face until my belly is stretched.

Also another one saying to get a tan! If you can afford to get a nice spray tan done just before you go. Tanned wobbly bits look a touch less wobbly than pale wobbly bits :)

feelingverylazytoday · 10/06/2019 06:59

If you want to look more toned you need to do some resistance training, and it needs to be quite intensive if you want to see results in 6 weeks.
