Help get holiday ready, I've only got 6 weeks!

Since January the diet has been starting tomorrow and of course it hasn't bloody started. So right now I'm facing the prospect of having to buy a whole new set of clothes for me holiday, and never wanting to look at the holiday photos again as I'm such a lumpBlush

So, I've got 6 weeks to get my arms thinner and more toned, try and get rid of my mum belly (especially the little pouch bit at the bottom that I blame on the kids but actually it's all due to me eating crap), and a thinner face. Not much to ask!

I don't want to go on a silly diet to obviously I need to start eating healthily and cut out all the crap. Exercise? Do do I do the 30 day shred? I used to run but haven't for ages. I do cycle to work, though.

So, give me all you've got to help me look a million times better (so feel a million times better) in just six darn weeks. Go!

Anybody??

Calorie deficit. Move more, eat less. MyFitnessPal to track calories. Fitbit to track how much you move.

Summer bodies are made in the kitchen- 80% is diet. And if you can walk more then do.

Look at some bikinis to spur you on!

I have 7 weeks and a target weight in mind. You can do it!

Flowersaremylove · 02/06/2019 21:05

Try Keto :) you could lose over a stone in 6 weeks

awalkintheparka · 02/06/2019 21:06

Also- 3 litres of water a day is preferable and will help with the loss!

gingerpaleandproud · 02/06/2019 21:25

@Flowersaremylove what does that involve? I'm not great on diets that veer to far from my "normal" one!

Low carb, if you google Keto your find everything, there’s a board on MN for it too

NowYouListenToMeFella · 02/06/2019 21:31

Joining in. Am always heading away in just over 6 weeks. Starting a personal training package next week. Do exercise a fair bit but need the extra push. Will be tracking food on my fitness pal. Hoping to drop some inches and look more toned.

Have never tried the 30 day shred. Is it good?

IsabellaLinton · 02/06/2019 21:38

I’m so glad you started this thread OP, I’ll be watching with interest. I bought so many lovely summer dresses to wear in the sales last year and vowed to start my diet on New Years Day. I must have eaten my own weight in biscuits since then. I’m so ashamed of myself.

PinkiOcelot · 02/06/2019 21:42

I’ve only got 6 weeks to go to my holiday as well. I’m in exactly the same boat.
I’ve tried dieting but not lost an ounce. I don’t know whether it’s the menopause or what. I’m really big around my middle and I never used to be. Help!!!

Cherrysoup · 02/06/2019 21:44

Joining! I spontaneously booked a week away in a hot European country yesterday. Just under 2 months to go. Help!

NowYouListenToMeFella · 02/06/2019 21:45

Seems like there's a few of us in the same boat. What is everyone else's approach?

LeukaeLucky · 02/06/2019 21:47

May I suggest this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june?pg=1&order=
It started on the first but you can always join

Ffsnosexallowed · 02/06/2019 21:47

Why?? Just why??? You'll be spending 2 weeks away, surrounded by strangers, why diet for them?? Why do you care if strangers think you're toned??

LeukaeLucky · 02/06/2019 21:48

I've also downloaded lifesum kind of like my fitness pal but with diet suggestions like keto 5.2 etc...

Yinyen · 02/06/2019 21:49

do it for you for longer and it will last.

CalmdownJanet · 02/06/2019 21:52

Watching with interest, I have 10 days to go 😂

Jeds55 · 02/06/2019 21:59

My brother's wedding in just under 7 weeks and weekend away in just under 6 weeks, so really need to start too. Dreading seeing people I haven't seen for ages and knowing they'll be thinking Jeds has really let herself go. Also got 2 dresses I could wear but neither fits and don't want to buy one in a bigger size.
Always just reduced calories and upped exercise before but not sure how much exercise I can fit in now back at work with a 14 month old. Will try get out for runs few days a week
Overall I need to lose 2 stone but would be really happy with 1 stone before the wedding (aim high and all that) How much do others want to lose? Anyone got any miracle weight loss tips?! Grin

gingerpaleandproud · 02/06/2019 22:01

@Ffsnosexallowed because I am unfit and unhealthy so I putting myself at risk every day that I eat more crap and don't exercise. Because the summer clothes in my wardrobe should fit me, because they fit me when I'm a healthy weight. And because I most definitely do feel self conscious wearing summer clothes or by the pool with wobbly bits hanging out. There will be many people much bigger than me wearing much less (I've never been a bikini person) but I don't care about them. That enough good reasons for you?

Jeds55 · 02/06/2019 22:13

Thank you @Leukaelucky I'll check it out.

Tatapie · 02/06/2019 22:17

I've got 3 weeksConfused
How about no sugar, no bread, no beer ( or whatever your vice is eg wine, crisps )
No sugar ( biscuits etc) will improve skin so you'll look better and boost immune system as well as save calories.
No bread will reduce carbs and encourage salads maybe
No ( vice) will save calories. If you like a drink go for spirit plus slimline instead.
Drink more water. Take a multivitamin.
Look after skin, apply fake tan.
That's my plan anyway! Good luck

AnAC12UCOinanOCG · 02/06/2019 22:18

You're already holiday ready. Hope that helps.

iwantavuvezela · 02/06/2019 22:21

I have 8 weeks -so will join in.
Aiming to do yoga 2- 3x a week (for toning - want good shoulders / arms for summer) - will try do another 1-2 brief cardio stints.

Thinking of trying to do a dry month - that will save quite a few calories if I cut out wine!
.
Use MFP to track calories

Might weigh myself tomorrow - that way can track weight loss, but also interested in toning.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 02/06/2019 22:25

I'm not doing it for strangers. I'm doing it for myself. I have just let myself go on the eating front recently and haven't been doing as much weights training as I usually do. Have been travelling a fair bit with work so am out of my routine. The holiday is just a catalyst to get me back on track. I find it good to have something I'm looking forward to to keep me focused.

Bubblysqueak · 02/06/2019 22:26

I've put on a stone since last summer and now my thighs rub again. I'm going on holiday in 7 weeks and would love to wear my summer dresses without shorts stopping the chub rub. Last time I lost a significant amount of weight I was doing 30 day shred and running, but can no longer run due to injury.

The diet starts tomorrow! Good luck and lots of willpower to everyone!

LostaraYil · 02/06/2019 22:29

I have 9 weeks before a holiday and have been easing my way into low(er) carb eating over the last few days. Now I just need to give up wine at least during the week and do some exercise! Whatever works, I know it's different for everyone, but we can do this!Smile
