To have only just realised how to drain a washing machine?

I know about the little tube but I've only just realised the end comes off and the water drains from there Shock For 20+ years I've been putting the worlds thinnest baking tray under the front of the machine and laying down towels etc to catch the inevitable flood coming from the twisty handle thing Blush

Please tell me I'm not the only idiot out there Blush

I’ve only just discovered the twisty handle thing, let alone the little tube, so you’re much less an idiot than me! My washing was coming out with something like sand on it because it couldn’t drain. The twisty thing was soooo blocked!

cardibach · 02/06/2019 19:21

Have no idea what you are talking about.

sittingonacornflake · 02/06/2019 19:21

Huh? Explain please! I always kind of flood the kitchen when I take the twisty thing out!

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 02/06/2019 19:22

What little tube is this?!

Celebelly · 02/06/2019 19:23

I have no idea either. I've never had water leaking from my washing machine and have never done anything with tubes or twisty bits!

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 02/06/2019 19:24

On my machine at least, theres a tube that you have to pull out, it's to the right of the twisty handle thing. You pull it out and theres a sort of cap on the end. Pull that off and the water drains from there Shock

I don't understand what water though. Water drains as part of the normal wash cycle so what water is this? I'm so confused Blush Off to go see if I have a twisty bit!

UrsulaPandress · 02/06/2019 19:27

Why are you draining your washing machine? Does it not happen automatically?

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 02/06/2019 19:27

Excuse the dog hairs that I cleaned out of the filter Blush

I had no idea either. I just tried mine and it makes it so much easier!
Thanks OP

PutTheBunnyBackInTheBox · 02/06/2019 19:29

Celebelly it's so you can unclog the filter. I usually forget and get reminded by my beeping machine when it's full of water.

I'm 57 and have had no idea all these years you could do this!!!!

shitpark · 02/06/2019 19:34

I don't have that. I really do have to be ready with towels to catch the flood. I hate that washing machine

RandomMess · 02/06/2019 19:36

I explained this very thing to DH and he still f*cking I did the twisty thing and flooded the place 🙈🤬

shitpark · 02/06/2019 19:39

I have to do mine, last two washes have come out wetter than they should be, so I know something is up. Putting it off until tomorrow. Can not face it

Whisky2014 · 02/06/2019 19:40

My machine doesn't need this but my parents does. I actually turned the tube and pulled it out and a woosh of water came out. So are you saying that's not meant to happen??

Em308 · 02/06/2019 19:44

How old are these machines and what country are you in? I have no idea what you're talking about. Never had this. I'm in the uk.

fourandnomore · 02/06/2019 19:44

Oh my goodness. I’ve been having to run an extra spin cycle for about a year, is this the issue? Doh. I’m off to investigate, thank you, thank you!!

adviceplease88 · 02/06/2019 19:46

What what what!???

Em308 · 02/06/2019 19:48

Oh wow have a twisty thing behind a panel at the bottom of my machine! No tube though! Who knew?!

icanhearapindrop · 02/06/2019 19:52

Em308, I’m in the UK, have a Samsung, only a couple of years old. Maybe you have a twisty thing and a little tube that you don’t know about...

icanhearapindrop · 02/06/2019 19:52

Oops, missed your update!

IndieTara · 02/06/2019 19:52
