To cut it off/pull it out in his sleep

My dh is very hairy and it doesn't bother me one bit because I am tooapart from recently. He has an incredibly long grey chest hair I'd estimate is about 15-20 cm long and he keeps showing it to me....like everyday! He's proud of it but all I want to do is pull it out! I've threatened to notjokingly and he seriously says "don't you dare!" Not because of the pain involved but the fact that he wants to keep it.

AIBU to accidentally get it caught in something?

I need a photo ....

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 13/05/2019 14:27

On a side note how is it possible for it to have grown that long?!

Singlebutmarried · 13/05/2019 14:28

Pull it out, encase it in resin and fashion it into a letter opener or similar, coil it up onto a paperweight.

Then he can have it forever.

Inebriatededna · 13/05/2019 14:34

My partner had similar , he’s never forgiven me for pulling it out 😂😂

MatchSetPoint · 13/05/2019 14:47

My husband has a stay eyebrow hair, if i pester him enough he let’s me pluck it out, I’d cut his stay hair in his sleep and pretend to know nothing.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/05/2019 14:48

Can't you 'accidentally' lean on it and when he turns over, voila!

daisyjgrey · 13/05/2019 14:48

15cm?! What's he planning on doing with it?! Does it not get trapped in things...? God imagine of it ended up in your mouth or tickling your face when you have sex...

I'd go to bed armed with scissors and then deny all knowledge.

Drogosnextwife · 13/05/2019 14:49

Don't pull it out and wake him up just cut it off.

PristineCondition · 13/05/2019 14:50

imagine of it ended up in your mouth or tickling your face when you have sex...

Dear fucking god! The thought of that

HappyHippy45 · 13/05/2019 14:51

He might get suspicious/wonder what the hell I was up to if I take a photo....though I would like a photo for evidence.
It got that long because he's an anomaly he doesn't trim anything other than his face and head hair. He's in his 50's so it's been growing for a while.

@singlebutmarried hmmm I think he'd like that

@inebriatededna never?

SleepingStandingUp · 13/05/2019 14:54

Yes of course you should be able to do anything to your partners body against his wishes because you don't like it. Perhaps restyle his hair too if it isn't up to your tastes! It's not like it's his body or anything....

HappyHippy45 · 13/05/2019 14:56

*imagine of it ended up in your mouth or tickling your face when you have sex...

Dear fucking god! The thought of that*

We've not had sex for ages (that's a whole nuther thread) but thinking about that hair isnt motivating me to do anything about remedying that!

I feel a bit sick.

Skittlesandbeer · 13/05/2019 14:58

Wait for really deep REM sleep to kick in, snip it off with sewing scissors. Sneak it into the bathroom and photograph it for all of us on Mumsnet. Flush it. Deny all knowledge. Never ever tell, not even on your 70th anniversary. Job done.

HappyHippy45 · 13/05/2019 14:58

@sleepingstandingup

You know this is lighthearted? Just because I say I want to do something doesn't mean I'd follow through with it.

OP posts:
MrsTerryPratchett · 13/05/2019 15:00

That's not how it works. Head hair carries on growing but body hair normally falls out before it gets that long. You don't have to manscape. He's a mutant I tell you. A MUTANT!

HappyHippy45 · 13/05/2019 15:00

...plus I couldn't restyle his hair because he doesn't have any Grin

Chopinaround · 13/05/2019 15:01

Appeal to his better nature by telling him that he could cut off the excess and donate it to poodles suffering from alopecia or hair loss from chemotherapy. Just get him to picture the delighted recipients boasting a new luxuriant coat and their owners saying it means such a lot to them and their pooches.

HappyHippy45 · 13/05/2019 15:01

@Mrsterrypratchet thank you, you've confirmed my suspicions

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/05/2019 15:02

Snip it off as close as possible to the skin and leave it lying on the sheets for him to find. I had a stray hair once below my boob. There have been threads about this subject before.

ruleofthree · 13/05/2019 15:03

Could you cut off 0.5 cm per night and see if he believes it is shrinking back into his body??

lotusbell · 13/05/2019 15:05

My dad has a name for these hairs: mad Charlies. No idea why, it's always baffled me. DH would just yank it out.

Hecateh · 13/05/2019 15:07

If you pull it out it will probably grow again.
I have - that I have found, 1 long hair on the outside of my arm and q on my leg. I check every week or so and 1 week I can't find it, the next it is a couple of inches long and I pull it out. I have been doing this for years now

MitziK · 13/05/2019 15:07

He's probably slightly overinvested in it due to [cough] a lack in other places.

Cut it off and when he looks for it, say it must have reached the end of its growing phase and fallen out like his head hair

DP is bald. I'd have no compunction about removing any mutant strands emerging elsewhere. But he's used to my attacking any ingrown bristles or blackheads with glee. And sorting out his manky feet and nails/dabbing Psoriasis treatment lotion on him when he's foolish enough to stay in bed after I'm awake.

Hecateh · 13/05/2019 15:08

*1 on my leg
