To be a bit miffed with that the couple coming to dinner on Sat are bringing most of the meal with them?

Sounds mad but I LOVE cooking. It's my thing. They think they are being helpful but he keeps phoning and leaving messages saying that she will make this and bring this and they'll get this and do this. They even offered to get some sausages to bbq when they know we keep pigs and have a freezer full!

I just want them to arrive, sit in the garden, drink wine and swoon at the delights I will offer them. If she wants to cook then invite us there FFS!

Have to say I'd be of the " bring a pudding" or wine variety. For me part of the enjoyment of having guests is thinking about what we're going to eat and then making food that I really like the look of. If it's too late to salvage, just enjoy having a break.

lol, to op, I can understand you, I love giving dinner parties as much as going to them...and love the cooking and making the menue, etc...and well, someone else would just mess that up with briging their own thing...different with a BBQ/Buffet sort of partie...so, you sure they don't just assume it's that?
...but what is it people hold against Farmfoods....admittedly I would not constantly go to shop there, but Icecream and stuff you can get so cheap and it's all the good brands....nothing wrong wiht a bargain...same goes for Iceland...bet half the people making all the fuss would not notice if they were served an Iceland/Farmfoods thing without realising...lol...blinking snobbery!
