to hate people who put junk mail through my door then expect me to leave it out for them if I don't want it!

OK so feeling a bit ranty and hormonal (I'm 28 weeks pregnant) so I probably am but here goes....

Today we had a catalogue kindly put through our door to join all the other junk mail. The difference with this is that they were kind enough to put a note wiuth it requesting that if I'm not interested I should leave it on my doorstep tomorrow so they can collect it.

Am I unreasonable that this really gets on my wick? If you put crp through my letterbox please don't expect me to leave it out for you just so you can give it to some other poor bstard plus advertise to all the local burglars that my house is empty!!!!! It is in the bin but if I am being unreasonable I will take it out and put it on my doorstep while eating humble pie.....

Agree with you. Was it Kleen-eezee or something like that? Guy always turns up to ask for his catalogue - at ds's bathtime - and I'm left scrabbling around vaguely saying, I'm sure I saw it here somewhere...

Yes thats them!!!! I just say I didn't see it and that dh probably put it in the bin!!!!

I would put it out and leave a note saying you don't want any more such catalogues. Otherwise they will do it again next month.

I agree it is annoying, but the people doing this are often hard up and for whatever reason can't get another sort of job. They only get a ceetain amount of catalogues from the company they are selling for, and have to pay for more, so if they can get yours back they can try to get custom elsewhere with it.

i used to do avon and just used to put a note in first time i did it asking if they didnt want it again to tick box and i would note down, as i know some people dont want it and it can be hard if you've got kids/have lost your brain (like me most the time!)

Oh if you want to stop it happening altogether you could put a sign by letterbox saying 'no catalogues, junk mail" etc

I had a Kleeneze yesterday which I will lose adn which they will knock on the dorr at the most inappropriate time to ask for it back...

The thing I really hate is the Royal Mail (Insignia??) postman who comes round at around 1-2pm specifically to post junk mail through my leterbox. Not letters addressed to me, a pure postal round of junk mail.

What a waste of paper, time effort etc. (Especially when they can't get the ordinary post right!!)

I did ask him not to put it through my door, he didn't, and I will be putting a note on the door permenantly.

I tend to think that it's as easy to dump it on the doorstep as it is to dump it in the recycling. You can always leave a note inside asking them not to leave the catalogue again.

Plus the one time I didn't dump it on the doorstep the guy shoved another note through my letterbox telling me he'd been, and then a couple of days later rang the doorbell asking for it.

It would have been easier just to sling it on the doorstep ...

We have even signed up for some sort of scheme thats meant to reduce junk mail by informing companies we don't wish to receive it.

Agree totally that its environmentally unfriendly plus the people distributing them are probably on low incomes. But it still gets on my t*ts!!!!

Overtime - it's worth the money for them - my brother who was a postie for 7yrs used to do lots of them and raked in the money. A large chunk of the Royal Mails income comes from such business........

Fannyannie -I'm sorry you have taken offence on your brothers behalf. I didn't realise it was overtime.
I still stand by what I say though.

I don't mind Kleeneze, I always seem to find myself ordering pegs of an obscure design. Kleeneze Brian, who delivers, makes the same jovial comment about me opening a laundry every time he comes.

But I did start to get hacked off when Bettaware joined in and then Avon and then a rival Kleeneze operation. They all got dumped and Ii didn't hear from them again.

oh gawd no offence taken - just explaining why you'll often get a "2nd" delivery in the afternoons with just junk mail that's not 'address' specific......they were cr*p to him (apart from paying him VERY good money as he took as much overtime and 'odd' shifts as he could LOL) and I was mightily glad when he left as the money was the ONLY good thing about them.....

This really bugs me, who do they think they are, sending you unsolicited mail and then demanding it back! I always make a point of putting it straight in the recycling bin and then if I am in when they come back I just say I never saw it - they don't come back. I once did this with an Avon catalogue and when the woman came back she started having a go at me saying they are very expensive to print and make (after she had rang my door 3 times in one evening while I was in the bath!) I stopped her mid-sentecnce and said well don't post them through strangers letter boxes then - she stormed off in a huff but never came back. It's a cheek and a liberty! Throw them away!

YANBU. Kleeneze are the worst of the lot. I put a note out with the catalogue every time saying 'no more, bugger off' but still they keep coming!!

I now just recycle them. They'll get the message quickly enough.

Does this really bother you all that much?

Either put a sign up saying you don't want any catalogues, or just pop the book straight back outside again, then it's there ready for collection.

Can't blame 'em for trying to make a living.

(And yes, some of the brochures have to be paid for, and are quite expensive.)

And don't bank on them getting the message - turnover of reps can be high, and the new rep therefore is not aware that you threw the last one away.

I just dump them straight on the ground outside the house (I have a side entrance so it's not obvious) as soon as they come through the letterbox. Then they can pick them up when they come back. Otherwise it's another chore to remember (and I won't!). I kind of hope that after picking up the slightly soggy catalogue they will get the message and not come back.

i put them in the recycling. I told the keleenxe odd bodds(they are odd) not to leave it as dd will rip it up. worked and never get one now.

yeah, and then they bloody well knock on the door - last time i said, i let DD draw on it and put in recycling. Saying that i had noted that i didnt want this shite put through my letter box

I just leave them outside,then some kindly neighbour/friend/dh will think they are doing ame a favour and bring it inside

I get this sometimes - most recently it was the Avon catalogue.

Just tell them you threw it away. They won't waste putting another one through your door next time.
