Two small kids, one often ill, DH and I both self employed and on call most of the time or working.
I can work from home and quite flexibly so I get a lot of time with the kids, but with a non sleeper, I feel demands are on me 24/7. It's very rare I even get to the hairdressers etc.
Baby has been sick all week, I've had very little sleep and lots going on in work.
But tonight as soon as DH walked in I came upstairs, ran a bath which I've topped up at least 3 times now, put on a face and hair mask and DH brought me a glass of red. Feeling almost human again.
What simple thing do you do to make you feel better when life is getting on top of you??

One of a few things, or a combination of, insanity dvd, weights, drink beer, read, xbox.

LittleAndOften · 10/05/2019 19:03

I took up the ukulele last year. Singing and playing is my happy place. Most songs only have a few chords so I can play most things. Love it.
Also reading, cooking and swimming.
And crap telly Grin

Mummyshark2019 · 10/05/2019 19:03

I like to spend a whole day in pyjamas with the curtains shut, eating junk and watching back to back Morse/Lewis/Vera/Poirot.

thenightsky · 10/05/2019 19:08

😊
May your me time always be.

Chocolate35 · 10/05/2019 19:10

Read with a cup of tea. Total escapism.... for a few minutes before the madness starts again.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 10/05/2019 19:11

Gardening

firstimemamma · 10/05/2019 19:25

I've worked out that if I don't have me time twice a month I start losing the plot! So we schedule it in the diary as an actual thing and I have to be that strict with it otherwise I don't prioritise it and wear myself out! I know that sounds silly! I like to do one of the following:
-soak in candle lit bath
-lie-in!
-go for a walk
-nails / face mask etc

tor8181 · 10/05/2019 23:30

0 really

as a 24 hour carer and a 24 hour home educator(yes we do learning and projects all hours of the day) the boys take all of our time as they need a adult each all day every day as neither sleep ans both have complex disabilities each

(im writing this in bed btw while youngest is doing hand stands on the bed)

i do like entering competitions though and enter hundreds per week

freshasthebrightbluesky · 10/05/2019 23:41

I've learned how to crochet (badly) and have been doing a lot of that this week.

I colour in (but haven't picked my pens up for ages)

I set up still life scenes, take photos and then spend hours editing them

sweetkitty · 10/05/2019 23:45

Walking the dog on my own on woodland looking at nature
Reading
Yoga once a week
I often disappear upstairs with my phone for an hours peace

mollpop · 10/05/2019 23:45

I swim. It's time where I can totally relax and focus on myself rather than the shit going on and me.

AlaskanOilBaron · 11/05/2019 00:02

Pilates
Manicure
Read/glass of wine
Walk dog
Organise cupboards (this one is pathetic).

AlaskanOilBaron · 11/05/2019 00:03

But life is tough with 2 little kids! It will get easier.

AnyFucker · 11/05/2019 00:03

"Me time" you say ?

Mind your own business Grin

Urbanvoltaire · 11/05/2019 01:02

Gym and cinema in the eves during the week and library and a coffee on my own at weekends. My dds are early teens. It's bliss when I'm out and about. I don't have much me time indoors. House is small and no sanctuary to escape to without either seeing housework waiting for me.

HouseOfToys · 11/05/2019 01:07

Gym.
I stay up ridiculously late when everyone else is in bed to watch crap TV and eat crap food.

NerrSnerr · 11/05/2019 01:19

I try to get out of the house to do a couple of yoga classes a week. We realised a few months back that I had very little time to myself so now try to prioritise it. It is tough with small children though, I agree.

HomeEdRocks18 · 11/05/2019 02:11

I joined Ladies Circle. It's a friendship group with members all around the world.
I am myself when with them, not Mum or wife.
It's great fun and we learn new skills and raise money for charity

managedmis · 11/05/2019 02:14

Organise cupboards

^^

Not pathetic at all! I need to do our pantry

I:

Cycle
Drink wine
Go for coffee (mostly at work)

notangelinajolie · 11/05/2019 02:24

Bath.

PremierNaps · 11/05/2019 02:25
  • Lock myself in my room and binge watch something
  • I am lucky enough to live 10 minutes away from a pier so go to the arcade to win tickets
  • Read
Bibijayne · 11/05/2019 02:36

Weights at the gym, bubble bath with a book, walk the dog.
