M&S self serve till recordings.....stop now!

Just been to M&S and at the self serve check out there seems to be the most irritating recording of a woman shouting inane comments. Has anyone else heard these? What on earth is it all about? Awful!

Could someone please let me know when they have stopped so that I can resume shopping there, possibly?

Alesha Dixon for Britains got Talent? Very annoying!

TheWernethWife · 09/05/2019 13:55

I use them once a week, sick of hearing "Amanda" twittering on. Poor bloody staff having to listen to that all day.

comingintomyown · 09/05/2019 13:56

YANBU it’s ridiculous

Butterpup · 09/05/2019 13:56

Alesha Dixon?
Why is this a good idea?

I can't go in, multiple recordings saying the same thing, out of sync, from different tills. All SHOUTING.

Run for the hills...Grin

M&S have recently sponsored Britains Got Talent so thats why Ant and Dec, Amanda and Alesha are the voices on the self serve tills.

Russell19 · 09/05/2019 13:57

It just said Amanda to me! Is it Amanda Holden?

TreacherousPissFlap · 09/05/2019 13:57

I have stopped using our local BP garage as the pumps used to shout shit at me.

DH tells me that they've turned it off now, presumably the weight of public pressure Grin

Butterpup · 09/05/2019 13:59

Poor staff.

How long until I can go back to the shop?

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2019 13:59

You can mute them. I got Ant and Dec which was quite funny. Apparently our M&S have them, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.

DownStreet · 09/05/2019 14:01

Is it more annoying than the Virgin Trains loos?

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2019 14:02

Oooh what happens in the Virgin train loos? Shock

Nanny0gg · 09/05/2019 14:03

I cannot believe M&S are sponsoring them,

What a waste of money.

I did complain via Twitter - along with many others. No reply

Butterpup · 09/05/2019 14:06

It's not just any annoying till recording it's a M&S annoying till recording. Grin

I agree - I hate Ant and Dec anyway but I certainly do not want to hear their stupid voices when I am paying for my shopping. I told the assistant that it was enough to put me off shopping there - the lady next to me agreed!

DownStreet · 09/05/2019 14:15

@Sparklingbrook a woman takes on the persona of the toilet and talks about the trials of being one before reminding you not to flush stuff you shouldn’t.

GabrielleNelson · 09/05/2019 14:16

The woman on the Sainsbury's self-service tills has the most patronising delivery I've ever heard. Drive me nuts!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 09/05/2019 14:16

... especially when they talk about using your SPURKS card!

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2019 14:18

Blimey DownStreet that's a bit offputting. But a worthwhile message.

Jemima232 · 09/05/2019 14:21

I hate all self-service tills.

They say "unexpected item in baggage area" when actually, it's my shopping. What's unexpected about that?

pinkoneblueone · 09/05/2019 14:21

I mute them as soon as I scan my 1st item can't stand them

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 09/05/2019 14:21

You should hear the ones in Poundland - they are just appalling. If I worked there I would have taken a lump hammer to the tills the first week the voices were added.

Butterpup · 09/05/2019 14:22

How do you mute?

OP posts:
Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 09/05/2019 14:22

Wait, hang on...they can be muted? How?!

Butterpup · 09/05/2019 14:25

Is there someone who works in marketing on here who can help explain why they did it?

OP posts:
bigbadbadger · 09/05/2019 14:26

My GM was hit and nearly killed by a drunk driver so I was seriously unimpressed when I was greeted by one in M&S (Ant) and complained. They looked at me like I had 2 heads and kept saying 'I'm not sure I see what you are saying'. Seriously hard of thinking!
