It's not like you all have not been wondering

OP posts:
Bluerussian · 08/05/2019 18:27

Well it seems I have to believe the name is 'Archie'. It's not even a name, should be 'Archibald (if they must), and call him Archie for short. Still I suppose we'll get used to it. Quite like 'Harrison'.

When you think what nice, ordinary names his immediate cousins have by comparison - George, Charlotte, Louis - what on earth are they thinking?

Nonnymum · 08/05/2019 18:28

I like it. But it doesn't matter what anyone thinks it's their choice.

JacquesHammer · 08/05/2019 18:28

Do you usually have issues believing the most simple of concepts....?

StillIRise87 · 08/05/2019 18:28

Naff and ill-advised. Not going to help Megan's popularity one bit ( think Fergie). Calling a child of Harry, Harrison ( as in Harry's son) is really quite stupid. Royal family are a brand. If they are just like everyone else then why bother having them.

bluebeck · 08/05/2019 18:29

It's a shit name for a Royal baby.

RubberTreePlant · 08/05/2019 18:29

How many threads do we need in this subject?

youllhavehadyourtea · 08/05/2019 18:29

There's lots of wee Archie's toddling around at our local Book Bug sessions. It was/is a fashionable name recently for boys who's sisters are called Ivy and Aria etc.

OVienna · 08/05/2019 18:29

Like others have said - I just don't like it. The class comments here are nasty but people are allowed to have a view. IMO- it's a very marmite combination of names - Harrison sounds very American too - and if Megan IS concerned about what people think I would hope that Harry would have had the sense to maybe suggest this MIGHT be a possible outcome. But then again maybe he's clueless and maybe they're both surrounded by people who would never have the guts to say either way. Maybe Kate and Wills just spent the time sniggering behind their backs. Who knows. I have a feeling that she is not quite as thick skinned as people suggest and will still be finding her feet culturally. I thought she looked very vulnerable yesterday and hope she is doing okay. I wanted to love the name!

JQBased · 08/05/2019 18:29

Dogs name

hazeyjane · 08/05/2019 18:30

It's not even a name....what is it then, a set of dinner plates?! Of course Archie is a fucking name!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 08/05/2019 18:30

WTAF

happyhillock · 08/05/2019 18:30

Archie how awful, never liked Louis either

diddl · 08/05/2019 18:31

"When you think what nice, ordinary names his immediate cousins have by comparison "

But Archie is also an ordinary name isn't it?(and nice in my opinion)

Orangecake123 · 08/05/2019 18:32

It's not a name I'd go for personally but well done for them for going with what they want. They look happy which is lovely to see!

SamanthaBrique · 08/05/2019 18:32

Harrison is very American? Well it's not like the child is half-American himself!

Prequelle · 08/05/2019 18:33

Some people are actually detached from reality. Not liking the name so wondering what the point of having them is Confused having to get used to someone else's baby name Confused Archie not being a name Confused

Weird as fuck

Nearlythere1 · 08/05/2019 18:33

I've met many young Harrison's over the last 5 or 6 years and i'm yet to meet one that wasn't an unmitigated little shit

iolaus · 08/05/2019 18:33

Their baby their choice

It is a name that will date him as there are so many Archie/Alfie/Charlie etc around - however because of who he is most people will know his age anyway

honeylulu · 08/05/2019 18:34

Don't like it.

Diminutives given as proper names always seem slovenly, like the parents couldn't be bothered to write out the actual name.

Tobebythesea · 08/05/2019 18:34

Archie is my cats name. Rubbish royal name.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 08/05/2019 18:34

The "we'll get used to it" comment strikes an almost new level of batshit crazy over involvement

OVienna · 08/05/2019 18:34

@SamanthaBrique - I am American myself and hate the current crop of names people seem to be coming up with over there. Not the way I would personally choose to honor that side of his heritage, with a daft name.

SamanthaBrique · 08/05/2019 18:34

Yes, and come to think of it I've never met a little Adolf who didn't have intentions to invade Poland...

FFS!

NotACleverName · 08/05/2019 18:35

When you think what nice, ordinary names his immediate cousins have by comparison - George, Charlotte, Louis - what on earth are they thinking?

You say that like Archie isn't an ordinary name?

BentNeckLady · 08/05/2019 18:35

If you can’t be snobby when talking about the royal family ffs when can you?
