To think Chewing Gum should be banned?

Not just for the masses of it glued to the pavements (& everywhere else) but the bloody noise!
Currently in a waiting room in a Solicitor's office and there's a man chewing gum - Slop slop slop slop slop slop - everyone keeps looking at him in the hope he'll take the hint!

I'm murderous

Yes, it's revolting and ought to be banned, alongside anyone who chews with their mouth open.

RedPanda2 · 15/04/2019 14:41

I love it but I don't chew with my mouth open or spit it out on the pavement. So YABU

RebeccaCloud9 · 15/04/2019 14:52

Oh gosh yes it's totally disgusting. I am baffled that the current 'war' is on single use straws before chewing gum.

Frogbull · 15/04/2019 15:00

It's disgusting. Got covered the other week after somebody thoughtfully left theirs on a train seat.

I believe Singapore may have banned it. Let's all move there.

palomapear · 15/04/2019 15:03

Vile stuff.

Yuck!

PinkiOcelot · 15/04/2019 15:07

I don’t think it should be said that chewing gum should be banned. It’s the certain individuals use of it that should be questioned.

RomanyQueen1 · 15/04/2019 15:13

I chew gum, but keep my mouth shut and wrap it up throwing in the bin when I've finished.
YABU

Choirgirl30 · 15/04/2019 15:46

I hope it's not banned as I suffer from a very painful mouth condition and the only pain relief I can get is from chewing gum. I don't dispose of it on the pavement and I don't chew with my mouth open (apart from the initial chew I don't chew at all I lodge it in my mouth).

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 15/04/2019 15:53

I was going to say ban it but then read the post from someone who chews it for pain relief so decided prescription only would be a reasonable option.

I don't care whether people chew with their mouths closed and discreetly dispose of their chewed up gum. Chewing gum is trashy.

Bringbackbertha · 15/04/2019 16:00

No... it's the only thing getting me through pregnancy sickness and the vile taste its leaving in my mouth

Azitii · 15/04/2019 16:01

Yabu, I'd be secretly smuggling it in if it got banned! I chew it all the time at home, I find it helps relax me and also helps when I have wisdom tooth pain.

PiggyPlumPie · 15/04/2019 16:03

I really hate it but also need it at times to relieve soreness in my mouth. I also chew it when running occasionally.

But I always bin it properly.

Yesicancancan · 15/04/2019 16:05

Yabu, offensive chewing and foul disposable should be banned.

Mother87 · 15/04/2019 16:41

It's been banned in Singapore since 1992 I think - and their pavements (and everywhere else!) are beautifully cleanGrin

Sarahlou63 · 15/04/2019 16:55

No. It's good for concentration and facial muscles.

Vulpine · 15/04/2019 16:57

Cigarette butts on the ground drive me mad too. Just pick em up

ScreamingValenta · 15/04/2019 17:03

100% yes, OP. Hate the stuff, both on pavements and in people's mouths. It makes me feel sick if I'm talking to someone who's chewing or accidentally put my hand on gum some charmer has stuck to the underside of a table or the arm of a chair.

A pp mentioned medical uses - it would be reasonable to have an exemption for 'prescription chewing gum' - but otherwise, ban, ban, ban.

Biancadelrioisback · 15/04/2019 17:24

My boss (who sits opposite me) chews gun after lunch. Mouth open. It makes me want to go hulk on my desk.

ChocChocButtons · 15/04/2019 17:31

It’s vile and I hare people who chew it loudly as well when their talking.

EleanorOalike · 15/04/2019 17:33

Nope. It really helps with my TMJ problems. I don’t make noises when I chew and I put it in the bin when I’m finished.

yunalis · 15/04/2019 17:53

I use it for medical reasons to. You can get it on prescription so obviously some people need it!

yunalis · 15/04/2019 17:53

*too

Blackandpurple · 15/04/2019 17:54

I loathe it and the chewers. Its vile.

NaomifromMilkshake · 15/04/2019 17:56

I had radiotherapy in 1995 and again in 2015.

I have no salivary glands.

I chew gum.

Get over it.

NaomifromMilkshake · 15/04/2019 17:56

Clearly that should have referenced head and neck cancers.
