My dad wouldn't give me a creme egg!

(Lighthearted, before anyone tells me to get a grip.)

Visiting my parents cat, (and them too) and spotted a large box of creme eggs for an event next week(there will be loads of spare) . Asked if I could have one and he said no! AIBU to think that is mean, especially as he brought me up to share things?!

Disclaimer: we get on very well)

Very mean

Confusedbeetle · 14/04/2019 12:11

It would only make you feel sick .They are disgusting

ScreamingValenta · 14/04/2019 12:12

Creme Eggs aren't what they used to be so perhaps he was trying to spare your disappointment!

You could always ask Cheddar to glare at him - he'll soon give them up then!

LuckyLou7 · 14/04/2019 12:12

Creme eggs don't taste like they used to. When I was a child, a neighbour gave me and my brother a creme egg each. My mum cut mine in half but my brother was allowed to unpeel his and bite into his from the top. I have never forgiven my mum for ruining my first creme egg experience.

PregnantSea · 14/04/2019 12:13

I've just eaten 3 creme eggs :) my excuse that I'm pregnant and craving them...

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 12:13

It might have been one of the special white ones that are hidden out there, then what? I’m not sure I blame him tbh...

Toddlerteaplease · 14/04/2019 12:15

Oo @CarolDanvers hadn't thought if that. Maybe he didn't want me to have one until he's been through the whole box to check!

Toddlerteaplease · 14/04/2019 12:17

@ScreamingValenta it would have to be Snorgs death stare. She has a really good one. Cheddar is just to soft.

He did you a favour!!
Now if it was one that had caramel instead of that gloopy stuff I could understand your disappointment.
Do they still do caramel eggs?

Jumbo2000 · 14/04/2019 12:18

Love that you were there to visit the cat! Grin

CarolDanvers · 14/04/2019 12:18

They certainly do notacooldad. Not easy to find though. I saw them in the petrol station local to me last week.

notacooldad · 14/04/2019 12:29

Oh, that's good to know carol
I really fancy one now!!

Toddlerteaplease · 14/04/2019 12:34

I still like creme eggs. I agree they aren't as good as the used to be. It they are still the best small egg.
The cat spent my entire visit asleep on 'his' chair. But at least he was actually inside. Most of the time I don't see him.

Photo of the cat or it didn't happen Grin

For the last few years Creme Eggs have been seriously fucking disgusting. Ever since Mondelez bought them. It's true of all Cadbury's chocolate now, it's seriously rank. The first year that they were disgusting Aldi had a very nice alternative but then they changed them to something different, not disgusting but not a Creme Egg alternative. It's sad I miss them.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/04/2019 12:36

How could I not go and visit such a handsome beast.

My dad wouldn't give me a creme egg!

Buy yourself a massive chocolate egg, and sit very very close to your Dad and eat it while making nom nom nom noises. Do not offer to share with him. Offer some to the cat.

(Light hearted - obviously don't give chocolate to the cat, do not try this at home, wear goggles, a fire retardant suit and a seat belt etc etc etc)

Toddlerteaplease · 14/04/2019 12:48

Ok you've just reminded me of the time a couple of years ago, when he had to cat sit for me as one of my cats had had surgery and I had to go to work.

I said he could eat all the egg left in the box, but not the bit in the bowl in the fridge. (Was saving it as a post nights treat, lemon meringue flavoured) came back and he'd eaten the bit I was saving!
Couldn't complain really complain as he's a very good cat sitter!

He did you a favour, they are horrid now Grin

havingtochangeusernameagain · 14/04/2019 12:52

How mean! But maybe as others have said he was trying to save you from yourself/disappointment as they've changed them.

Clearly, if he visits you and spots something he wants to eat, you'll have to refuse and remind him of this terrible event.

Grin
PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 14/04/2019 12:53

Perhaps hes seen the meme going round and hes saving you from yourself ?

My dad wouldn't give me a creme egg!
havingtochangeusernameagain · 14/04/2019 12:53

I still like them too by the way. I don't know what that says about my taste (or rather, lack of it). I like Lindt chocolate too though so I do appreciate the decent stuff!

havingtochangeusernameagain · 14/04/2019 12:54

I ran a race this morning in 48 minutes. That means I can eat three of them, right?

Badtasteflump · 14/04/2019 13:00

You’re not missing much OP

As an aside - does anybody remember toffee and mallow eggs? I loved them as a kid, but nobody in RL has a clue what I’m on about 😔

Thebatmother · 14/04/2019 13:05

Go NC. He had no excuse to not give you one. He sounds mean, controlling and as if he resents your very presence on this earth. Sorry you’ve had to go through this. Have you got anyone in RL who can support you? Oh actually before you go NC you need to go round one last time to smuggle the cat out. You can’t leave the poor thing in such a toxic environment.
